TCU 2012 Big East schedule released

Posted on: August 3, 2011 10:46 am
Posted by Chip Patterson's Brett McMurphy spoke with TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte at Big East Media Day this week in regards to the program's future, particularly in the Big East. Del Conte spoke about head coach Gary Patterson's opportunity to "create his own shadow" and the $105 million expansion and renovation to Amon Carter Stadium. The stadium construction is expected to be done in time for the 2012 season, which will kick off against Grambling Sept. 8.

Here's how the Horned Frogs first season in the Big East is shaping up:

South Florida
West Virginia

Seems pointless to try and predict how this schedule will look for the Horned Frogs seeing as we are still a season away, but we can do it anyway.

Connecticut, Rutgers, and Syracuse were picked 6,7, and 8 in the 2011 preseason media poll, so I find it difficult to foresee either of those teams quickly becoming big-time threats before 2012. Pittsburgh could certainly present a challenge, though much of the defense that is expected to dominate in 2011 will have graduated. I expect opportunity to host the rest of the possible Big East title contenders in a rowdy new stadium will benefit the Horned Frogs in their initial season as a league member.

TCU 2012 Big East schedule released

Although 2010 was a down year for the entire Big East Confernce, I think all of the programs are reloading to make 2012 a lot more like 2006 on the national scene.  'With Rutgers picked 8th this year, next year should be an easy road game', is a foolish thought from someone who has no idea how football teams in the East pound each other on defense.  Not only does the 'media' have NO CLUE about what Rutgers is going to be capable of this year, 2012 they too will be even better.  Don't get me wrong, this is good for the conference, I just don't think TCU is just going to walk away with anything.  Let's see how they fare after getting their noses bloodied with a full Big East schedule in 2012.

TCU 2012 Big East schedule released

No real mention of WVU which should have a good season this year but should be stronger next year. The Big East will not be a push over, but i welcome TCU and the credibility they bring to the Big East. Now if we could pick up a couple more credible teams and a conference championship game all will be well.

TCU 2012 Big East schedule released

The Big East is very compeitive.  Last years OOC weak results were an aberration, not the rule.  I expect TCU to do well simply because they were a Top 5 team last year.  We'll have to see how strong they remain.  But teh Bi gEast beats the ehll out of eachother and has done so a long time.. even back when Miami, VTech and BC were in the conference.   For them, moving to the ACC made things easier.  I think TCU is going to be surprised.

Some of you keep thinking that the Big East will be easier for TCU than the MWC and you are going to find out soon that that is not reality.

TCU 2012 Big East schedule released

7 home games and 4 Conference away games adds up to 11 games.  Who will they play for their 12th game?  They host OU.  A loss to OU and it will really not matter what TCU does in the Big East.  The Big East is seen as the easiest BCS Conference by far.  I can see a problem with games at Rutgers and at Syracuse.  Rutgers may return as many as 8 starters on each side of the ball next season.  Syracuse may return 9 starters on defense.  It will be interesting.

TCU 2012 Big East schedule released

Not playing any Texas based teams will be odd, especially no games against rival SMU. When was the last time they had a season with no Texas opponents? Just glancing back I can't find one through 2002-now, it may have been a while.

TCU 2012 Big East schedule released

It is definently an much easier schedule then playing in the Mountain West Conference.  I can see why TCU decided to move. They get an easier schedule, 7 home games and only 4 away games, and a guaranteed BCS berth.  I am curious about how the Oklahoma game will turn out.

That is a very impressive schedue with 7 home games- all of which are fun games to see. The fan base must be very happy. TCU runs a great program and should continue to be one of the most admired programs in the country. Good for the Horned Frogs.
