Buckeyes ditch 'JT' wristbands after one day

For the Ohio State Buckeyes, their freshmen were causing a stir at the team's first news conference of the season sporting some snazzy black and red "JT" wristbands -- ostensibly in support of ousted head coach Jim Tressel, unless they too want to know why Justin Timberlake hasn't been making music recently. Probably more the Tressel thing though.

At any rate, the school (predictably) found out about the wristbands, and within a flash, said wristbands were no more:

Ohio State issued a recall on “JT” wristbands Wednesday night, hours after several freshmen football players wore them to a news conference as a show of support for former coach Jim Tressel.

“They were pulled back out of concern, just being cautious,” team spokesman Jerry Emig said yesterday, adding that their use had not been run past the compliance department before their distribution.

In other words, the athletic department wasn't concerned with the appearance of its football players supporting a recently fired coach who had probably just committed the worst NCAA violations in program history -- it was just concerned with potential compliance issues in case someone interpreted the players' actions as promoting the wristbands. Fine set of priorities the NCAA has fostered these days, isn't it?

Also, as Graham Watson correctly notes over at Y!, nobody showed up wearing a TP bracelet, nor has anyone apparently gone through the trouble of making one. Surely there must be a reason why Tressel's getting the "tragic hero" treatment while Terrelle Pryor's being left out in the cold once again, right?

BigdaddyQH, I would love to see SEC teams travel to Mid-West in December/Janurary to play a bowl game. Calling the B10 a joke based on bowl games has no validity whatsoever.

Suckeyes the lying bunch of scumbags south of Michigan. there so stupid they wouldnt know what the truth was. I never saw people in such denial in my life after everything that has happened this year. Suckeyes your going down for a long time your recruiting classes will suck!
Here's a rule of thumb you might want to follow:  Before you call someone stupid you might want to learn the proper uses of "they're", "their" and "there".  But hey, at least you got "your" right.

Well I am glad to see that you fools from that joke of a conference called the Big 10 still want to play your childish games in here.  The Big 10 has proven time and time again just how big of a joke they are in the bowl season.  Do your thing children, because any Top 10 team could whip any Big 10 team's tail in a bowl game.  You clowns are a real joke.  Your stupidity shines thru in these posts.  As far as Ohio State is concerned, those morons will just never learn.  They have a lot more problems to worry about than some stupid wristband.

LOL - when the Stink-o-rines get trounced (again) this November we'll still be smiling.  OH wait!  You guys have a new Coach.  Bradley Joke, or Brady Choke - something like that.  I think he coached some DII school out west for a while so he's got some cred.  He looks almost as bad as Jabba the Weiss from ND but I guess they say he's a good coach.

Sparky, your writng skills are laughable. When you make up storys to try and deliver a message, first, make them believable. Secondly, have them actually make sense. Nice try but your ignorance and hate seem to  slither thru your story telling.

btw You are a Michigan fan and have lots of reason to hate tOSU. You lose at making up strories and lose at Football.

Laughable and sad at the same time.
