Head coach Randy Edsall is the new face of Maryland football, and on Monday the team got a new look as well with their new Under Armour uniforms.

Under Armour founder, and former Terrapin football player, Kevin Plank was on hand for the event. The Terrapins showed off not only the newest technology from their home-state retailer, but a new two new helmet designs and the potential for 16 different uniform combinations.

Here is one pic of 8 different combinations from the UM Athletics Twitter account, more HQ images to come soon from the event.

And here is a combination of screen shots from the event, courtesy of the irreplacable Bryan Fischer

Maryland unveils new Under Armour uniforms

I am not really a fan of any of the new uniform styles, but then again who cares?  If the players are happy with the new twist that’s really all that matters.  I am a fan of the more classic look of most universities uniforms.  This was a great advertising campaign though, if you love them or you hate them people are talking about them and I am sure that was the intended purpose.  Take for instance Oregon, way too many uniform combinations but I know I take a peek when they are playing just to see what uniform they are wearing this week.  I say let the haters hate!!

JB....you really do come off sounding like a metrosexual with your picky fashion faux pas.  I'm sure Prada could use a few good men *cough cough* such as yourself.

In a word, “tacky”.

Oregon’s uniforms are gaudy, but the Terps’ are god-awful.  I can’t decide what feature that I like the least;

  1. Gradient colors on the numerals and shoulders?  Ugh…..
  2. No side helmet decals or university logos (no block “M”, “Terps”, nothing?)
  3. Tortoise shell skin on the white helmets…… very intimidating!

All that’s missing is clowns’ shoes and rubber noses. Why does UT, Bama and Penn State have top recruiting classes every year if funkadelic uniforms are so important?  But, I agree that OR's Nike partnership helped the Ducks recruit SoCal, so maybe this will work for MD.

Good variety.  Welcome to the future of CFB Unis.  The kids really do go in for this type of thing.  Good for you Maryland!!!!!  Go Terps.

Like I said before with Oregon's uni's...."if the kids like them then that's all that matters"  No one at Maryland cares what the fans think.  They are not recruiting you so blabber on all you want.  This will be the new trend.  Every school will be getting new uni's soon enough.  Even if they are just alternate and for one or two games.

Looks like the Maryland players will have plenty of jerseys to sell or trade for tats.  Someone has to take the heat off Miami

This new trend of insanely bright and seizure inducing jerseys look so amateurish.  I can't help but feel these belong in the arena football league or something.. These uniforms are hideous.  Can you imagine any NFL team wearing something as hideous as that?  They should scrap these uniforms faster than the state of Iowa scrapped that ridiculous trophy depicting a family and their backwoods corn worshipping.

Obviously Under Armour's answer to Nike's deal at Oregon.  The player and worse yet, the University, is just a pawn in the shoe companies game.  The kids probably like it, but shame on the Unversity.
