A day after official Board of Regents meetings at Texas and Oklahoma had many believing the Red River rivals would head west, the Pac-12 announced they had other plans regarding membership. The following is the official statement from the Pac-12 regarding conference expansion, in which they state their plans to remain at 12 members.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- In light of the widespread speculation about potential scenarios for Conference re-alignment, the Pac-12 Presidents and Chancellors have affirmed their decision to remain a 12-team conference. Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott said, “after careful review we have determined that it is in the best interests of our member institutions, student-athletes and fans to remain a 12-team conference. While we have great respect for all of the institutions that have contacted us, and certain expansion proposals were financially attractive, we have a strong conference structure and culture of equality that we are committed to preserve. With new landmark TV agreements and plans to launch our innovative television networks, we are going to focus solely on these great assets, our strong heritage and the bright future in front of us.””

Pac-12 will not expand in conference realignment

That is good for the SEC.  With OU and Texas, Pac16 would have come close to the SEC.  Now they can remain irrelevant stepchildren. Thank goodness for the Texas Network.

Pac-12 will not expand in conference realignment

So if Oklahoma and Texas are thinking about leaving the Big 12, but the Pac 12 isn't interested and they don't like the leadership in the Big 12 anyway why don't the remaining Big 12 schools all at once contact the Big East to join them?

Pac-12 will not expand in conference realignment

Who gets booted from the Pac-12?  WSU?  ASU? OSU? UCLA?
I think it is just a PR move right now.  They don't want to announce the first 16 super-conference just yet.

Pac-12 will not expand in conference realignment

Where is the thread and main page story about the PAC 12 slamming the door in the face of Texas and OU like there was for WVU and the ACC and SEC (reports have since surfaced to say this is a "outright lie").....highly doubt there will be one

Pac-12 will not expand in conference realignment

"Wow so what is going to happen with the Big 12 now?  Who are they going to add to the mix?  What are they going to do about the Long Horn network?"

Frankly my dear I don't give a damn.

Pac-12 will not expand in conference realignment

"we have a strong conference structure and culture of equality that we are committed to preserve"

In other words, "We don't like the Longhorn Network or Texas wanting to earn more money than everyone else"

Good move, Pac-12. Way to not give in to Texas and their money grubbing selfishness.
