It seems that three games was all Ohio State head coach Luke Fickell needed to see from quarterback Joe Bauserman to realize a change was needed for the Buckeyes on offense. Fickell announced on his radio show Thursday morning that freshman Braxton Miller would start at quarterback for the Buckeyes on Saturday against Colorado.

While Bauserman performed well in Ohio State's opener against Akron, throwing for 3 touchdowns, he wasn't very good against Toledo and Miami the next two weeks. In those two games Bauserman completed only 41% of his passes for 202 yards and 1 touchdown. Miller also played well against Akron in the opener, throwing for 130 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 30 yards.

He didn't see any time on the field against Toledo, but played against Miami, throwing 4 passes for 22 yards. Like Bauserman, he didn't have much of a positive impact against Miami, and had two costly turnovers, but he also brought a bit of a spark to the Ohio State offense. Miller's ability to make things happen with his legs is just a facet of the offense that is not available when Bauserman is in the game.

It's also something that's needed with the suspensions of so many Buckeyes playmakers stemming from the fiasco last season that led to the dismissal of Jim Tressel and departure of Terrelle Pryor.

Miller was one of the most highly-touted quarterbacks coming out of high school last season, and was seen as the eventual successor to Pryor in Columbus. While he wasn't supposed to be starting this soon, it's become pretty clear that Ohio State isn't going to win the Big Ten this season with Bauserman at the helm, so it seems the coaching staff feels it's time for Miller to get some experience.

Though Bauserman is still expected to share time with Miller under center.

He has earned the start.  As a Michigan fan, though, I hope he loses at least four games this year.  What I really hope, though, is that the NCAA Infractions Committee grows a set while they are finishing off the Ohio State University investigation and levy some penalties worthy of the Dirtiest Program in College Football.

Your just sore cause we own you. Starting Miller should have happened week 1. Just shows the inexperience of Fickell. I like him but he is not impressing me so far. Not calling timeout at the end of the Miami game???? Bauserman is the worst OSU QB I can remember. If you can think of a worse one let me know but I can't think of one I would start Bauserman over.

Silly teres.  NO LOIC or failure to monitor charges have bee levied as of yet.  history shows that a program has never received a post -season ban in the absence of either of the those.  my prediction of the NCAA ruling:
-Will be announced in early december, after the reg season.
-They will uphold the vacation of the 2010 season.
-They will uphold that the players repayed what they got.
-They will uphold the five game suspensions.
-No postseason ban
- schollie reduction from 25 to 21 for '12 - 14.
-----------------
Worry about Michigan.   They are your team.

Good.  Miller will fumble.  who cares?  we are not going to NOLA this year anyway so no reason to play it safe.  why not build for the future?  let the kid take his lumps, but he will improve - even if only a little - in just a single a game is my belief.  We will need braxton miller against good teams like nebraska and michigan state.

Unfortunately for Baueserman this is the right decision.  Just like when Pryor had to come in and start for Boekman, this decision had to be made.  Boekman didn't have anyone to block for him thus had no time to throw so we needed Pryor's athleticism.  Bauserman has a good line but no receivers to throw to right now.

this is a safe game for miller to start in if you plan on starting him in the big 10 schedule.
maybe when suspended players come back things will improve drastically
