Virginia Tech has had the advantage of a soft early season schedule to break in new starting quarterback Logan Thomas. Unfortunately for the redshirt sophomore, the last week has left him thin with wide receiver options heading into Saturday's tilt with Marshall.

Senior wide receiver Jarrett Boykin has been ruled out for Saturday's game due to a hamstring injury. According to the school, Boykin injured the hamstring this week in practice.

Boykin is the Hokies' career leader in receptions, and is second on the team with 10 catches for 93 yards and a touchdown through three games. While Boykin's injury is not a long-term concern, the news comes less than a week after senior wide receiver Dyrell Roberts was ruled out for the season. Roberts broke his left arm in the opening kickoff of Virginia Tech's 26-7 victory over Arkansas State. It is expected he will apply for a medical redshirt and fifth season of eligibility.

The good news for head coach Frank Beamer is that he enter the season with a stable full of capable options at wide receiver. Marcus Davis and Danny Coale have arguably been the most explosive options for Logan Thomas, and junior D.J. Coles has shown some promise in limited action.

If the Hokies can take care of Marshall, they will enter conference play 4-0, but still not having faced an opponent from a BCS AQ conference. They will have no warm-up for ACC play, starting off with visits from Clemson and Miami before traveling to face an improved Wake Forest squad in Winston-Salem.

You pick a mid pack SEC team this year in Auburn to make what point?? But they did win another title for the SEC last year though. Let's see, that is 5 in a row I believe. When was the last time a chicken chit ACC team won one? Yea, thought so...
Enjoy your pathetic schedule (spin it all you want, it is pathetic) and always being a "B" team playing in a "B" conference. Frankly that would suck but more power to you because mediocrity clearly is okay with you. That must be an ACC thing...

Oh and by the way, since you have identified yourself as an SEC homer, lets not forget the the defending national champions, the Auburn Tigers of the mighty SEC had their asses handed to them by the unranked Clemson Tigers from the "chicken chit ACC" as you state. lol, SEC = Overrated (as usual).

Of course, you're an SEC homer. Lame lame lame. Aside from that, my only point is that your college football ignorance is showing. If you seriously think VT's schedule is the weakest in the NATION, then you, sir, are a fool. Clearly VT has an easy schedule, but they are playing 2 ranked teams (so far). There are 10's of FSB programs that play nobody ranked in the top 50! Alas, I am tired of arguing with an idiot, adios.

Seriously Hokie Pokie, you're really going to bring up some nonsense about not having balls?? I don't have to plaster my teams logo on my handle and jam them down everyone's throat every chance I get in every post.
Trust me, your little team wants no part of my school this year or any year or the schedule they play. If so, they would stop hiding in the soft ACC and have the "balls" to join the SEC.........a real conference! My school plays the #3 & #1 teams the next two weeks back to back.
Fwiw, I actually like Beamer/VaTech and wish they were the next program to join the SEC. I just get a bit tired of some of the crowing (pune intended)  Hokies constantly do about how great they are. Contrary to what they believe, you have to actually play and beat some top shelf teams and win something besides a worthless ACC title to crow like they do. VaTech is a "B" program that wants to be an "A" program. That will never happen in the chicken chit ACC.......period!

Hey Blue, have some balls and put your favorite team(s) on your page... or is your team too crappy? Thought so.

Moronic hey?? Too funny! Defending this lousy schedule is MORONIC!!!

When the season statrted no one on VaTech's juggernaut of a schedule was ranked, not one! Who knows if any of the teams will be ranked when VaTech plays them. You never know when you play in the weak ACC. The OOC schedule is a complete and utter joke. Spin it all you want, something about a pig and lipstick comes to mind...

@Blue Weakest schedule in the country? I think not; granted VT's schedule is relatively weak as compared to their usual schedule, but as of now VT is playing 2 ranked teams from the ACC, Clemson (#21) and GT (#24). If Miami keeps winning they will be ranked as well (they are right on the cusp). So saying that a team that plays 2 (and most likely 3) teams in the top 25 has "the weakest schedule in teh country this year" is moronic.

This absolutely no problem for VaTech when you play by far the weakest schedule in the country this year...
