Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill announced on Sunday that he is readmitting himself to the hospital to treat ongoing seizure issues he has been suffering since his incident on Sept. 10.

Kill suffered a seizure in the fourth quarter of Minnesota's home loss to New Mexico State two weeks ago, and admitted to dealing with multiple seizure events since that scare.  He was last released from the hostpital on Sept. 15, just five days after the event.

“Coach Kill is determined to get this issue resolved,” director of athletics Joel Maturi said in an official release. “We all want what’s best for him, and his health is our first and foremost concern. I have full confidence that our football staff will get the team prepared while Jerry is away. We all want him back on the sidelines. But it’s time to find a resolution.”

According to the school, Kill suffered another seizure on Sunday morning. The Gophers' head coach is in good condition and his vital signs are reportedly "strong." There is no timetable for his dismissal from the Mayo Clinic or his return to the sideline for the team.

Hate to hear this about Coach Gill.Wish him the best and hopefully he can get his health in order. Not sure why you would even make a comment about him being a bad hire. That has nothing to do with this story. We are talking about a mans health who cares about football in this case.

Time to hang it up...

I think Minnesota and Kill should work out a settlement, and Kill should find a job that doesn't require over 100 hours a week.  100 hours a week kills a lot of "ordinary" men; someone who suffers from seizures is asking the Lord to come and get him by working that hard.

RE: KIll's Health

I honestly cannot believe the comments here criticizing Minnesota's AD for hiring Kill.  Kill has had health issues in the past, but he had a clean bill of health when he was hired.  He had seizures in the past, but they were few and far between.  Just because they have somehow become more numerous lately does not mean he was a "bad hire".  He was hired because he is a coach with a proven track record of turning programs around.  I think he should be given every latitude to regain his health and turn Minnesota around before he and the AD are burned in effigy.

This was a horrible hire by any measure.  You've a got a Big Ten school and the best coach they can find is a guy who seizures every game???  And they new about his medical condition and still hired him.  Really??

And then on top of that this guy is unable to motivate his players and has lowered expectations and scheduling to a new low.  He'll be gone in 5 years when he fails to win with his recruits.  Mark my words.  GONE IN 5 YEARS.

I think coach Kill should take some time off.  He has to take care of himself first.   Job be damned, breathing air takes first priority!  Good luck and God speed!

In about 70% of seizure cases, they never figure out a cause.  Neurology is just as much art as it is science, I have learned.  But they can treat it with meds.  My 15 month old daughter has epilepsy.  It's tough but it generally is not life threatening.  Best wishes to the coach to get the issue under control.
