On Thursday night CBSSports.com's Brett McMurphy reported there was a possibility that the three LSU players who were suspended for failing a drug test, Tyrann Mathieu, Spencer Ware, and Tharold Simon, could all be forced to sit out next week's game against Alabama as well. Which, obviously, would be a very big blow for the Tigers as their game against Alabama might not just settle the SEC West, but a berth in the national championship game as well.

However, according to a report in The Times Picayune on Friday, that will not be the case. Citing an anonymous source close to the situation, the report says that all three players will miss this weekend's game against Auburn but return in time for Alabama.

Which is good news for LSU, as Spencer Ware is the team's leading rusher and Tyrann Mathieu had been garnering some Heisman Trophy attention for his play this season, which this suspension will likely put an end to.

The three players tested positive for synthetic marijuana earlier this week.

Report: Suspended LSU players won't miss Alabama

@LSUTiger1978--My wife and her family are all from New York but now live in Jacksonville FL, as do I.  I remember the first time I took my wife to the New Orleans Jazz and Blues Heritage Festival and she firmly stated that she was not going to try any "mudbugs".  I finally convinced her to try them fried, and naturally, she fell in love with them.  We are fortunate enough to have a Copelands here, so we go there at about once a week.  My mother in law insists that she always go with us.  My brother in law puts out a terrific crawfish boil, just as you describe.  They are a family of converts.

Report: Suspended LSU players won't miss Alabama

Just another day at Louisiana State Penetentiary.

"Synthetic marijuana?"  Maybe your new aggie buddies from A&M can help you synthesize an undetectable strain of cannibus.  Rock on!
Keep in mind, this is coming from a Texas fan.  Ricky Williams anyone?  The difference is the Lonhorns allow their players to not only do drugs, but traffic them as well.  Texas had like 6 guys arrested in 6 weeks for armed robbery and worse.  I think he is just mad because Texas doesn't have a football team anymore.  Sure, they suit some folks up, but it would be unfair to call them a "football" team.

He who lives in glass trailers...

Report: Suspended LSU players won't miss Alabama

skreffty - yeah, like LSU was just waiting to kick it in and win back in 2009.  Let me remind you - Bama had 24 first downs to LSU's 13.  Bama had 452 yards offense, LSU had 253.  Bama had 276 passing, LSU had 158.  Bama had 176 rushing, LSU had 95.  Julio Jones abused Patrick Peterson and company for 102 yards and an embarassingly long TD.  Here's what the fourth quarter looked like for LSU:  1st drive:  3 plays 9 yards, 01:58 LSU PUNT.  2nd drive: 3 plays -8 yards, 01:06 LSU PUNT.  3rd drive:  5 plays 8 yards, 01:00 LSU INT.  You guys had 9 yards of offense in the entire 4th quarter.  Do you not recall that????  Yeah, you guys were just primed to win it if only that mean old referee hadn't given bad old Bama a favorable call.  Bama had already sidelined your felon QB Jefferson, had already broken Scott's collarbone, and dominated in general.  That's why Bama won.  Rather, let us hope Less Miles and LSU take appropriate actions in this LATEST criminal activity from LSU thugs, and "do the right thing" regarding discipline.  Let us hope that.  And speaking of bad calls, I don't think an LSU fan wants to open that can, especially in light of the fact that LSU needed a horrible call against Florida last year to squeak by...you remember don't you...the "lateral" that went forward, but was allowed to stand as NOT a forward pass, so LSU could win it?  Another stupid LSU trick play that Less pulled from la-la land.  Good luck with all that on Nov 5 - with or without your growing crew of felons.  Bama 27 LSU 17
1st - We don't have a felon on our team at QB or anywhere else (I don't think Mettenberger got a felony).

2nd - Peterson was OUT of the game on the 73 yard Jones catch (nice try)

3rd - We were in field goal range when the interception, somehow, was overruled after the Bama official illegally went into the replay booth.  True we needed a TD, and the momentum would have been with the Tigers.

4th - band of felons?  Because we don't cover our crimes like you guys did with Ingram's huge pot bust in the car we are the "band of felons?"  Is fake pot or defending yourself a felony in Alabama, but incest is encouraged?  Weird.

5th.  That "lateral" against Florida clearly did not go forward.  You must be new to football.

6th.  How about the 4th and 6 for Bama that became a 4th and 1 during a TV timeout, when you guys went for it?  No way you can explain that one away.

I will give you credit for admitting it was obviously an interception but other than that, you have an incredibly revisionist memory lol.

The state of Alabama should refuse to let these felons enter our borders until they are prosecuted.
Felons?  Stay in school kids

LSUMC

in 1978 I was dating a girl from Memphis.  we went to see her parents during easter break.  they order us an appetizer and when it gets there they have 6 nice boiled shrimp and some cocktail sauce.  we all take 1 and then her mom tells us, "now you 2 take the rest, we know how hard it is on college students on a budget."

about 4 weeks later we are graduating and they come down for the festivities.  my dad asks what I want to do to celebrate.  i say how about a crawfish or shrimp boil?  so he has about 100 lbs of crawfish, 100 lbs of shrimp, potatoes, corn sausage etc etc.  as we are seated at the table, girl friend's mom says what are we eating?  shrimp and crawfish.  what else? potatoes etc.  when my dad started pour it straight on the table, I thought the woman was going to die.  but an hour later we had her sucking the heads...

best damn mother in law a guy could ever have...

it just took me showing her how to eat seafood.  And in spite him being a UT grad, paw in law is a good ole boy too!

she doesnt waste time ordering a shrimp cocktail any longer, she just flies south for a week when she craves the stuff!!

understand please

1- the NCAA penalty is 0  nothing nada nilch for 1st time drug test failure

2-  LSU suspended 3 starters for the NEXT game

what is Miles doing wrong?

why would he penalize his team?

Maybe ethics means something to him...

thats my guess

Report: Suspended LSU players won't miss Alabama

things I find interesting:

1- a guy who makes sure we know that at 65 he is a man, but then chooses a name with BOY in it

2- people who want LSU coach to make it a tougher penalty than what he has chosen, when what he has chosen is tougher than the NCAA rule calls for

3- people who do not know the difference in

a- an NCAA rule that prohibits artificial pot
b- a law that prohibits real pot

4- people who claim to be smarter than fans from LSU, then can't spell simple words

5-  men who wear tights and roll around with other men and try to pen them on their backs  (well actually I do not find this interesting)
but do find it interesting that they brag about doing it
