On Tuesday CBSSports.com's Brett McMurphy reported that the Big 12 had invited West Virginia to join the conference in the event that Missouri left for the SEC, and that West Virginia had accepted the invitation. A report that was confirmed by multiple outlets throughout the day.

Well, this is the world of conference realigment, and in the world of conference realignment things happen and then don't happen before happening again or not. Then you wake up in an alley somewhere with no recollection of how you got there or why you're suddenly missing a kidney.

So of course there was a report on Wednesday from the West Virginia Metro News saying that the done deal may not be a done deal after all, and that Louisvillecould be replacing Missouri in the Big 12.
As of late yesterday afternoon, WVU had received a verbal invitation to the Big 12 and had accepted. Plans were in the works for a news conference Wednesday to make the announcement.

But sources say the process hit a “bump in the road” last night.  WVU was apparently notified by the Big 12 that it needed “more information” from WVU and that there would be a vote by the Big 12 Board, perhaps on Monday.

There is speculation that the “bump” was a push by Louisville.
So what's the problem? Well, it's not so much that Louisville made some kind of last minute presentation to the Big 12 or anything as much as it's the fact that the schools aren't all in agreement that West Virginia is the better choice, as Brett McMurphy documented on Wednesday.

You may remember that on Monday, while one Big 12 administrator was talking about how much better West Virginia would be for the Big 12 than Missouri, another conference administrator was of the belief that Louisville was the better choice.

I know, the fact that the members of the Big 12 don't all agree on something shocks me too.

Not so fast on West Virginia to the Big 12

Not so fast on West Virginia to the Big 12

You must be a Missouri fan because everyone else knows that MU is the fly in the ointment. Willing to take less money to play in the SEC is what I expect of MU.  Have fun getting your teeth kicked in almost every game by superior football teams.  Less money, Less Wins.  Sounds like something you guys would do.

Not so fast on West Virginia to the Big 12

Wow, now the BIG12 can't decide on a network?  They can't decide on who to invite?  Louisville or West Virginia??   This conference is going to blow up everybody...TCU is about to play in its 5th conference in the last 15 years :)

I thought that Beebe was the reason for the BIG12's instability????

Its always been Texas....always will.... and when the LONGHORN NETWORK fails...which it will..... Texas will look to move to the PAC12 for more money, leaving with OU, OkState, and Texas Tech.    These other schools are going to be left standing in the wind.

Texas looked at leaving in 2009, 2010, and 2011.....won't stop them in the near future!    When SEC and ACC get to 16 teams...which they will....BIG12 will get poached again by PAC12 and BIG10.

MISSOURI....  MAKE IT OFFICIAL...GET THE HELL OUT OF THIS LEAGUE!!!!

Notre Dame is the only chance at offering stability to this league

We know they'll NEVER join the BIG10....too much hatred towards Michigan blackballing them 40 years ago.   Notre Dame has too much pride as a University...the BIG12 has the best chance at landing them as a conference member.    Get the Irish...end all of this Texas talk....the toughest kid in the room (TEXAS)...needs a new bully to enter the block (Notre Dame).

M-I-Z......   S-E-C

Word is...

that Pickens is the tird in puchbowl. Imagine that, all that money & still ain't happy. The greed these guys display is beyond comprehension. Bulls--t talks & money walks. Maybe these guys have figured out a way to take it with them. Or maybe they're just gonna be cryonically frozen in gold.

Not so fast on West Virginia to the Big 12

The Big 12 is screwing up again! This is getting comical! I was afraid of it at first because I am a Kansas alum and I was worried that KU would get left hanging. The thing is, Missouri is gone, done deal. Who cares, move on, but to invite WVU and then take it back is awful. Louisville wants to come too, so invite them too. It seems like the Big 12 wants to stay at 10 teams. Why? The SEC and ACC are going to be at 14 or 16 when it is over so why do they think 10 is going to get it done. I don't know what is true and what isn't, but if Texas and OU are really doing a money grab, then just end the conference now because this crap will come up every other year. I am getting tired of the OU president saying something stupid everyday. By the way, the best chance for the Big 12 to play in the championship game is with Oklahoma State, so tell me why they don't deserve more? Texas and now OU are making the same mistake Notre Dame made years ago. Notre Dame will soon being joining a conference because they can make it by themselves anymore.

Not so fast on West Virginia to the Big 12

Missouri would be gone yesterday if not for the Big 12 strongarming them over buyout money and possible lawsuits.

To Louisville and WVU, all I can say is that I am sorry that you have had to twist in the wind while Missouri makes up their minds. I hope this whole saga ends soon, and if Mizzou stays in the conference, then hopefully we can add you both to get to 12 teams.

BYU, WVA, Louisville.  I realize you are looking for greener pastures during uncertain times, but truthfully, I think your schools should look very carefully why the following schools left the likes of Texas.

Arkansas
Nebraska
Colorado
A&M
Missouri

If you are convince that having Texas & OU as your Pimp, go ahead.  They don't want a conference, they want an association they control.  They really don't want a Championship game that is why they do not want top go back to 12 unless they HAVE TO!!!  Every year either Tecxas or OU will be in National Picture and then get blown out on the big stage ala Alabama, West Virginia, Boise etc.

Look at what is making news now.  From ESPN:  The bickering will never stop.

LAWTON, Okla. -- Oklahoma officials say they don't understand how a proposed Big 12 Network could work considering that Texas already has an independent channel and the Sooners are working on one of their own.

Not so fast on West Virginia to the Big 12

I doubt whether any Big12 ADs, Presidents, Chacellors or even the Big12 offices are reading this but if Missouri wants out of the Big12 let them go.  MU is the school that started this whole mess with realignment so give them a timeline for moving on.

Big12 should be agressive on new members immediately and look at WVU, BYU and Boise State if MU stays and one more if not.  This is not including the potential of Notre Dame playing multiple games a year against Big12 teams.

Make the move Big12 and make it soon!!!
