On Tuesday CBSSports.com's Brett McMurphy reported that the Big 12 had invited West Virginia to join the conference in the event that Missouri left for the SEC, and that West Virginia had accepted the invitation. A report that was confirmed by multiple outlets throughout the day.

Well, this is the world of conference realigment, and in the world of conference realignment things happen and then don't happen before happening again or not. Then you wake up in an alley somewhere with no recollection of how you got there or why you're suddenly missing a kidney.

So of course there was a report on Wednesday from the West Virginia Metro News saying that the done deal may not be a done deal after all, and that Louisvillecould be replacing Missouri in the Big 12.
As of late yesterday afternoon, WVU had received a verbal invitation to the Big 12 and had accepted. Plans were in the works for a news conference Wednesday to make the announcement.

But sources say the process hit a “bump in the road” last night.  WVU was apparently notified by the Big 12 that it needed “more information” from WVU and that there would be a vote by the Big 12 Board, perhaps on Monday.

There is speculation that the “bump” was a push by Louisville.
So what's the problem? Well, it's not so much that Louisville made some kind of last minute presentation to the Big 12 or anything as much as it's the fact that the schools aren't all in agreement that West Virginia is the better choice, as Brett McMurphy documented on Wednesday.

You may remember that on Monday, while one Big 12 administrator was talking about how much better West Virginia would be for the Big 12 than Missouri, another conference administrator was of the belief that Louisville was the better choice.

I know, the fact that the members of the Big 12 don't all agree on something shocks me too.

Not so fast on West Virginia to the Big 12

WV should just go independent and quit all this nonsense of conference alignment, I even saw some nonsense that Notre Dame might join a conference in football, lmao, even the ACC, LMFAO. These sportswriters are delusional if they thing that Notre Dame needs a conference and especially the ACC,lol. Brett McMurphy knowa about as much about college football as a 6th grader, he just wants to make headlines. WV, Notre Dame, Texas, and Boise St shoud, just go independent and with the Military academies they would do well. WV hears there is not enough TV's in WV to join the ACC,,,lol, like anybody watches ACC football anyway, and CBS has ruined the SEC making them think they are as good or great as we are supposed to believe, and the Big 10+2 think they are the Ivy league,,lmao,,look at Ohio St's problems, change the name to dummy U. I just want to watch the best football game on and I don't care if its Toledo and Bowling Green, these money hungry TV giants are ruining college football and these dumb conference commissioners are buying into it.. The people want to watch the best football games, not conferences.

dovermb.........How do you know that your information is a fact you are telling these people about the Senator ?  I wouldn't believe this rumor from some of these media guys any more than what they write about conference re-alignment to be a fact. The only recent conference realignment that wasn't screwed up like a "soup sandwich" was when the ACC invited PITT and Syracuse to be their 13th and 14th teams. The ACC handled their expansion plans much better than the PAC12, BIG12 and SEC. The ACC expansion did not play out in the media from days on end, and keep EVERYONE confused, it was announced and over with in 3 days. The worst thing that can happen is for the media to get a hold on half truth and then spin it 100 ways.

KY Senator Mitch McConnell's office phone number: (502) 582-6304. I encourage everyone to call and voice your displeasure in the senator's meddling in something that he has no business being involved in.

They are fighting to try to get in to the Big 12. no disrespect to Nebraska who actually have a football program but Mizzou brings nothing to the table, W Va has a final 4 and a BCS game to the table so does Louisville and TCU. The Big 12 has got better in football and the reason Nebraska left was because they couldnt compete with the south teams and now it would be worse for them.

Not so fast on West Virginia to the Big 12

Basically, what we are seeing here is a scenario where all rats are trying to jump off of a sinking ship.   Something is definitely wrong with the Big East right now.  Teams that play football do not want to belong to this conference.  Is it as simple as the programs with football expenses are tired of carrying the programs that do not have the football expense?  No, I don't see Boise State, BYU, Houston or Southern Methodist running into the Big East fold without extra incentives being tossed in their direction.  I doubt Boise State, Houston or SMU would a beat, though, if the Big 12 or Pac 12 extended an invitation.  BYU would want special consideration because they feel the revenue from their own TV network should only belong to them.  Yet, just about any of the Big East programs with football teams would run at any offer from any other automatic qualifying conference.  So, before somebody uses the homer argument that the Big East is great because my favorite college is in it, can somebody explain why the colleges with football programs want out, and nobody, save one of the directional Florida schools, wants into this conference.
