Switzer and Pickens want Mack Brown around

The rivalry between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State on the football field isn't something that's going to die any time soon, but it seems that some members of the schools are finding ways to get along with one another off of the field. All it takes is one common bond, and it seems that bond is hating Texas.

Two people who definitely seem to share this bond are former Oklahoma head coach Barry Switzer and the Godfather of Oklahoma State athletics, T. Boone Pickens. Both were at a luncheon on Wednesday, and while there Pickens shared an email he received from Switzer after Oklahoma's 55-17 victory over Texas earlier this season.

In the email Switzer told Pickens to make sure that Oklahoma State didn't beat Texas "as bad as the Sooners did because we want to keep Mack Brown as coach — we want somebody that both of us can beat."

Switzer, never exactly a shy person, encouraged Pickens to tell the story. The next week Oklahoma State beat Texas 38-26 and Mack Brown hasn't been fired as of yet.

So it seems Switzer's master plan is working.

first of all texas fans want to say is 59-45-5 we dont care about what happened fron 1900-1925 when oklahoma only had 20 players on the team and texas had 120. get over your self texas has never been that good.if you take those years out of the mix ou has a winning record over texas.

Did'nt post right Alabama 7-1-1. Arkansas 56-21.Auburn 5-3. Florida 2-0-1.Georgia 5-3.Kentucky 1-0.LSU 9-7-1.Miss St. 2-2.Ole Miss Never played.S.Carolina 0-1 1957 only time played. Tennessee 2-1. Vanderbilt 3-8-1 1928 last time played.Oh yea soon to be SEC A&M 75-37-5. The only team with a winning record that has played Texas 2 or more games Vandy and the last time played 1928. So yes Texas rules the teams from the SEC.
That's pretty nice ... and Texas dominance throughout the years as a National power isn't in question. Texas has a losing record to the SEC in the past 10 years though ... including a championship loss. So, at least use some more recent information .. what happened in teh 50s 40 20s really doesnt apply to the current situation.

UT athletics spends more money than should be legal and has the least to show for it in all college sports

UT is a less than .500 team if they played in the SEC over the last 20 years.

The fact that its T. Boone Pickens who always speaks for Oklahoma State rather than the school president or the athletic director tells you that everyone at OSU is nothing more than a puppet of Mr. Pickens. Not exactly the kind of place I'd want to work if I were in the business of running college athletics.

Switzer and Pickens want Mack Brown around

I don't know what's worse, the implication that the Sooners and Cowboys have a dominating edge over Texas made by Switzer and T. Boone or Tom Fornelli, the lack of reporting by Tom Fornelli to report the facts that the Cowboys have only beaten Mack twice, or the lack of editing by the editor to make sure such information is reported. Also what about the Longhorns as the last team to play in the NC game from the Big 12? What about the Longhorns as the last Big 12 team to win a NC?  Completely irresponsible CBS. Still butt hurt over that ESPN-Longhorn marriage, it shows.
