Switzer and Pickens want Mack Brown around

The rivalry between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State on the football field isn't something that's going to die any time soon, but it seems that some members of the schools are finding ways to get along with one another off of the field. All it takes is one common bond, and it seems that bond is hating Texas.

Two people who definitely seem to share this bond are former Oklahoma head coach Barry Switzer and the Godfather of Oklahoma State athletics, T. Boone Pickens. Both were at a luncheon on Wednesday, and while there Pickens shared an email he received from Switzer after Oklahoma's 55-17 victory over Texas earlier this season.

In the email Switzer told Pickens to make sure that Oklahoma State didn't beat Texas "as bad as the Sooners did because we want to keep Mack Brown as coach — we want somebody that both of us can beat."

Switzer, never exactly a shy person, encouraged Pickens to tell the story. The next week Oklahoma State beat Texas 38-26 and Mack Brown hasn't been fired as of yet.

So it seems Switzer's master plan is working.

Switzer and Pickens want Mack Brown around

I am sorry to have to say this; but TEXAS is to the BIG12 that NOTRE DAME is to the BIG EAST, they screwed up both leagues by trying to think they were better than the others.  This type of posturing by these two schools shows a lack of consideration in fairness and equality with the other conference members.

YEP... stir the pot Barry, that is what you are good at as you enjoy the Oklahoma banquet circut! T. Boone is willing to play ball with you as long as he gets his name in this charade also. And this is why college football is the best. You cannot get this fever of support anywhere else in sports. Mack Brown is a survivor and he probably laughed his head off when first reading about this. The Big 12 conference needs some positives, some attention outside of the conference realignment issues it has had to deal with. Its the Holiday season, college football is into 3rd gear now with the BCS poll adding intrigue. We actually need more Barry's in college football!

Laughable. Little known fact: The 3 teams that have beaten Oklahoma in the BCS CG (yes, worse than Ohio State) want to keep Bob Stoops around.

Oklahoma produces incredeible talent-both NFL and CFB. However, they just won their first BCS game since beating Washington State in the 2003 Rose Bowl.....hilarious.

Oklahoma as a title contender? Texas Tech did everyone a favor.

Barry Switzer ran some clean programs back in the day, he should shut his hillbilly mouth.

Yeah I'm sure the players on the field were

cognizant of Switzer's master plan.

Interseting piece no doubt, but I doubt this had any effect on the outcome.

The funny thing is Swhitezer won a super bowl.  Even funnier is that any animal, take your pick, could have coached that Cowboy team to a super bowl victory.

T Boone reminds me of M Cuban.  A lot of money, but not a lot of class, striving for relevance.  Will Rogers never met Bob Stoops.

Switzer is a STOOGE! As stated in the article, Switzer isn't exactly a shy person, which is a huge handicap when you add in his IGNORANCE!!! What a laughingstock!
