Brian Kelly apologizes to his players

It's been a rough week for Notre Dame and Brian Kelly. Following Notre Dame's loss to USC last weekend, amidst a barrage of USC players saying that the Irish quit, Kelly promised that this week would not be fun for his players. The Irish held long practices all week, but on Thursday Kelly made some comments that bothered his players more than the extra work.

"You can see the players that I recruited here," Kelly said on Thursday after practice. "You know who they are. We've had one class … that I've had my hand on. The other guys here are coming along. But it's a process. It can't happen overnight. They're getting there. We're making good progress."

As you'd expect, the players on the Notre Dame roster who Kelly didn't recruit didn't exactly enjoy hearing these comments, and even took to Twitter to vent. All of the tweets have since been deleted, but players like Trevor Robinson, Kapron Lewis-Moore and Manti Te'o tweeted about Kelly's remarks.

Te'o tweeted "playin for my bros and that's it!!!"

Well, on Friday players reportedly addressed Kelly about his comments in an effort to clear the air, and Kelly apologized to his players for the remarks.

Whether there are still some tension between the players and their coach remains to be seen, but the best way to heal any divide in the locker room would probably be a win against Navy on Saturday afternoon.

The players may not be grown up men, but this coach is the most worthless arogant ass in College football.

Brian Kelly apologizes to his players

I agree this may not be the best coach for Notre Dame but the players these days are little boys due to the tweeting and crap that they send via email, facebook, etc.

How about stepping up as a player and being responsible?  What an idea that you have to work and take responsibility.

Are these players part of the occupy movement?  Where they want everything given to them - no work - just give it to me and then I'm content.

PATHETIC!

Brian Kelly apologizes to his players

Kelly was overrated at Cincy and he is overrated at ND. The only
reason why ND even has 4 wins at this point in the season is because they play
a creampuff schedule. If they don't win 6 games this year, then Kelly should be
canned the minute after the final snap of the season is taken. This guy is just
an angry, emotional, red-faced, screaming, uncontrollable wanna-be ND
figure-head coach. ND Nation, do yourselves a favor and get that "Fire
Kelly" bandwagon going now. By X-Mas, you have a gift given to you by the
Boosters; by dumping this waste-of-a time coach that won't prove anything
positive for your football program.

Brian Kelly apologizes to his players

I played for Brian Kelly in the early 90's at Grand Valley State University.  1991-92 season was his first there.  I was recruited by a coach named Tom Beck my Senior year of high school.  This does not suprise me one bit.  I was one of those guys that was "along for the ride".  I had guys starting in front of me that I knew I was better than.  When I was hurt my sophmore year during our spring game, he never acknowledged me. After that season we had an interal award meeting, and he called me to the stage to accept an "Iron Man" award for not missing practice.......  I did not go up to the stage, and had to inform him that I missed about 4 weeks of practice due to the injury.  I was pretty embarrassed, as this was in front of the whole team.  I did get over it, and I also left the team between my sophmore and junior seasons, and not once did he talk to me about my decision.  Wish I would have went to another D2 program or accepted a preferred walk on from one of the D1 programs that offered.
Also, I would bet money that he made the film student get up in that lift and film practice.  He truely is in it for himself, and nobody else.  On another note, this is a business, and he is looking out for #1, but stepping in #2 all over the place!

Brian Kelly apologizes to his players

Brain Kelly needs to grow up. and understand Notre Dame players are not stupid robots.  They take their lead from their coach and if their coach behaves like a selfish jackass, you can bet the farm that they will tune him out.  They will still play to win for the team and for Notre Dame, but they will hate this guy.
As for family, why is Kelly calling out the players he did not recruit?  Is that jerk saying that only his players get it and the players who were here when he arrived are step-children?  Next, for this hot head to air out his family's laundry in the media is reprehensible.  Because this fool decided to make his comments public, if he had any Notre Dame pride, he should let it be known he did apologize to the family.  HE should lead by showing accountability.
So this is how far Notre Dame has fallen that we have to sign fat head egomaniacs for coaches?  Kelly you should be trying find ways to get the team to play good football instead of running your toothless  potty mouth.

Brian Kelly apologizes to his players

Wouldn't it be nice to get a tweet from one of the Irish Football team members that tweeted.

Yeah I'm sure they know better - how about paying attention and doing your job instead of this.

Brian Kelly apologizes to his players

I don't follow college football that closely due to the inadequet bowl situation.

However the players that weren't part of this Kelly recruitment should be punished.
You can't have a college team tweeting or whatever against your coach - they are morons.

This society of tweeting is unbelievable - you have a setback and you cry online - These Notre Dame so called football players should be ashamed of themselves.  No moral edict and probably mama's boys - boo hoo - the coach said something bad - wah wah - bunch of idiots.

Brian Kelly apologizes to his players

I just saw Kelly interviewed before the start of the ND vs. Navy game and had to listen to him talk about how his football team is "family" and accordingly he won't say if he apologized because it is a "family" matter.  They guy is a hypocrite.  Ask his players at Cincinnati if he treated them like "family" when he bailed on them an hour before their team banquet and with one game (the Sugar Bowl) left to play in a then-perfect season.  Now his players at ND know the same thing the Bearcat players did -- Brian Kelly is all about Brian Kelly.  Period.  If he has to throw kids under the bus in order to advance his own interests or keep the spotlight of criticism off of him, he will do it without a moment's hesitation. What a "family man."
