It's been a rough week for Notre Dame and Brian Kelly. Following Notre Dame's loss to USC last weekend, amidst a barrage of USC players saying that the Irish quit, Kelly promised that this week would not be fun for his players. The Irish held long practices all week, but on Thursday Kelly made some comments that bothered his players more than the extra work.

"You can see the players that I recruited here," Kelly said on Thursday after practice. "You know who they are. We've had one class … that I've had my hand on. The other guys here are coming along. But it's a process. It can't happen overnight. They're getting there. We're making good progress."

As you'd expect, the players on the Notre Dame roster who Kelly didn't recruit didn't exactly enjoy hearing these comments, and even took to Twitter to vent. All of the tweets have since been deleted, but players like Trevor Robinson, Kapron Lewis-Moore and Manti Te'o tweeted about Kelly's remarks.

Te'o tweeted "playin for my bros and that's it!!!"

Well, on Friday players reportedly addressed Kelly about his comments in an effort to clear the air, and Kelly apologized to his players for the remarks.

Whether there are still some tension between the players and their coach remains to be seen, but the best way to heal any divide in the locker room would probably be a win against Navy on Saturday afternoon.

It's one thing to be tough on players. I personally think there's too much coddling nowadays. But it's another thing to turn on your own players and even worse cause a divide in the team. No good coach should do that. You can't win if the team's divided. Dumb move.

what he did was wrong, but these kids - all of them, are not winning games. and the worst part ... they are losing by brutal mistakes. redzone int's and fumbles - crist and grey and sloppy play. kelly came to ND to coach winner's, not a bunch of turnover happy kids. he can coach that at the pop warner level. these kids are blowing games left and right with their mistakes and now they're mad at what kelly said ? grow up and play and stop turning the damn ball over !

..........what goes around comes around.......Kelly left a tremendous Cincinnati team to fend for themselves in a BCS bowl three years ago to bolt for Notre Dame.  A real classless move.  I'm an ND fan and I thought it was bad for college football.  people can make all the exuces that he had to leave then to take the deal, etc..... a real coach would never do that to a team that he led to a BCS bowl.....those Cincy kids were devastated.

Funny now that Cinncy is 6-1 and ND is 4-3 and going nowhere.  Kelly doesn't have the temperment to be a top notch coach......and he is a jerk to boot.  ND going nowhere fast with him.  they will be tearing up his contract before the end of next year.

WOW, how many times do you think Woody or Bear grovelled to their players?
Of course both of those scumbags forced injured kids to play and destroying their futures, beat kids, were racist, and cheated with impunity.  Slavery is also a thing of the past.  If you look to those criminals as a role model, that says more about you than you realize.  That being said, Kelly is an awful coach and a windbag.

Awwww-- Did the big nasty coach hurts the FEELINGS of the Fainting Irish players? hoo....I want my mommie!  Cripes, you would think that Notre Dame players could just GROW A PAIR, accept their already off the scale benefits as the media-spoiled pretenders they are, and go out and PLAY SOME FOOTBALL.  When did these guys turn into such WHINERS???

Kellys needs to tone it down a notch and worry about coaching football instead of acting like a hot-head every week and criticizing the players that he "didnt recruit".

Kelly being Kelly.  He is a jerk 24/7, but he is a winner.   Notre Dame will win with him.  The guy gets under my skin.   This is a little off topic, but the first time he went against RichRod in Motown he had his DBacks doing jumping jacks to block the hand signals being sent in from the sidelines.   Never saw that before or since.
