It's been a rough week for Notre Dame and Brian Kelly. Following Notre Dame's loss to USC last weekend, amidst a barrage of USC players saying that the Irish quit, Kelly promised that this week would not be fun for his players. The Irish held long practices all week, but on Thursday Kelly made some comments that bothered his players more than the extra work.

"You can see the players that I recruited here," Kelly said on Thursday after practice. "You know who they are. We've had one class … that I've had my hand on. The other guys here are coming along. But it's a process. It can't happen overnight. They're getting there. We're making good progress."

As you'd expect, the players on the Notre Dame roster who Kelly didn't recruit didn't exactly enjoy hearing these comments, and even took to Twitter to vent. All of the tweets have since been deleted, but players like Trevor Robinson, Kapron Lewis-Moore and Manti Te'o tweeted about Kelly's remarks.

Te'o tweeted "playin for my bros and that's it!!!"

Well, on Friday players reportedly addressed Kelly about his comments in an effort to clear the air, and Kelly apologized to his players for the remarks.

Whether there are still some tension between the players and their coach remains to be seen, but the best way to heal any divide in the locker room would probably be a win against Navy on Saturday afternoon.

Brian Kelly apologizes to his players

i am a lifelong irish fan, and i say good for kelly! i am tired of these prissy little kids making a first down and flexing... win some games before we act like ND is back... the players are too cocky at ND these days, and the funny part is they aren't even great recruits anymore... we just get the athletes that are decent , but still care about grades... this is the most honest an irish fan can be, i watch all irish sports, but this years football squad is making me sick! they did give up against usc, i saw it, and it wasn't kelly... he didn't call timeouts because he saw that there was no energy or drive in his players.. maybe they should have rested and focused before the first night game at south bend in over 20 years...

just an opinion from someone who has loved the irish all his life...

This guy is a clown. He thinks he's Bob Knight-which is NOT a compliment. At least Knight's teams WON and they were well Coached. Kelly and his both should have been fired for the tragic 'tower' occourance, and if not, should have been put in jail. Shut the hell up you big mouth!

Why are they making this an issue?  I know the media needs work, but gosh!

I coach flag football, and I get after my players before during and after every game.  Look coaches coach, players execute...USC simply dominated the game, now the Domers want to blame someone.  Losing is part of the game, and so is winning...and in this case, 'whinning'.  Notre 'shame' is no different than who they were after the first game of the season.

They are not ready to be a big time program.  They don't know what 'swag' is, and they along with the coaches and their and fans think that just because they wear that rediculous green jersey and they golden helmets, they will automatically win.

Wait til next year guys...the NCAA should change the rules and not allow them to be an 'at-large' BCS team...find a real conference, we will see you at the Collesium next year!!!

FIGHT ON!!!!

Brian Kelly apologizes to his players

Brian Kelly lost all my respect when he abandoned his team an Cincinnati (when they were undefeated) right before their Sugar Bowl game to take the job at ND.  You just don't bail on people like that, especially college student-athletes.

WOW, how many times do you think Woody or Bear grovelled to their players?
