Late in the first half of Iowa State's game against Texas Tech quarterback Jared Barnett took a helmet to helmet hit from Tech linebacker Cqulin Hubert. Hubert was flagged for the hit, and Barnett laid on the ground motionless for a while before finally coming to his senses.

Here's video of the hit.

Now, according to a tweet from Iowa State's official account, the Iowa State training staff says Barnett is fine and will return to the game.

Sure enough, Barnett started the second half at quarterback for Iowa State.

Okay, now go watch the video again. Make sure you pay attention to when Barnett's entire body goes limp after the hit. He was clearly knocked out cold for a bit because of it.

Yet, according to Iowa State's training staff, he's "fine." What's losing your consciousness for a few seconds anyway?

Given all we've learned about concussions in recent years, this seems like an extremely irresposible and dangerous decision to even think about letting Barnett back into the game. There's toughness and then there's just stupidity.
