We were hoping for the best and expecting the worst when it came to the status of Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles' injured left knee, and we've gotten what we were expecting. According to John Hoover of the Tulsa World, Broyles has suffered a torn ACL in the knee and his season, and Oklahoma career, are over because of it.

Broyles suffered the injury in the third quarter of Oklahoma's 41-25 win over Texas A&M on Saturday. He planted on his left leg in an odd fashion after making a catch and turning upfield to gain more yards. He clutched the knee after being tackled and was then helped off the field before being seen in tears on the sideline.

Broyles finishes the season with 83 receptions for 1,157 yards and 10 touchdowns.

In his career Broyles has caught 347 passes for 4,586 yards and 45 touchdowns. The 347 receptions are more than any other player in NCAA history. Broyles was also a Biletnikof finalist last season and decided to come back to Oklahoma for another season even though he'd have been a first round pick in the NFL to try and win a national championship.

Ryan Broyles has a torn ACL, his season is over

Broyles wasn't going to be a first round draft pick in any of the mocks I have seen so far. I always see him going early to mid second round. So as far as draft status if he comes back healthy he may lose a round but he can overcome it. What sucks is this kid who had a very shaky start to his career at with the gas stealing incident had really turned image and career around and to have it end with an injury just sucks.  Hopefully he will continue to mentor Stills and Reynolds and guide them in their handling his absence.  Best of luck to you Ryan Broyles.

Sigma... Yes QBs and WRs are very different when it comes to knee injuries but the comparison of Broyles to Bradford is very relevant because Bradford had a major shoulder injury... So that compared to Broyles knee injury is very similar in the fact that its a main part of their relative positions...

@vpdaboss ... are you kidding? of course this will affect his draft stock, in addition to being an injury with a longer recovery timetable, it happened 2 months later than bradford's injury

Sorry, but QBs and WRs are very different when it comes to knee injuries.

Apples and oranges. No, really closer to apples and grapefruits.

A QB just has to drop back and slide in the pocket. 40 time is only a bonus for QB.

40 time is life or undrafted for WR.
Broyles is a small WR who works with his speed and quickness.

If he can't run by draft time he falls to late 2nd or 3rd round.

As for the draft stock - this will not have any negative implications.  He'll be a no-question first round draft pick.  Hate to see this happen to the best receiver in college football.  Reminiscent of Sam Bradford coming back and missing the year due to injury.  He still went number one in the draft.

As a college football fan, hate to see this.  He would have been a 1st round pick last year but chose to come back for all right reasons.  This will make others think again before doing same.  Broyles is a great competitor and this is sad, even from a Horn fan here.  Hope he recovers soon.

This is going to kill his draft stock. He's not going to have enough time to recover in order to show scouts the knee is ok. It's a shame.

Speedy recovery to Ryan! Feel bad for him. Hope this doesn't hurt his chance in the league. Good football player, better person. Get well soon.
