In his post on Houston Nutt's firing at Ole Miss on Monday, our own Jerry Hinnen said that Mike Leach will "be along any minute to mention how much he'd love a shot at coaching in the SEC." Well, that minute is now.

On Tuesday Mike Leach told The Commercial Appeal that if Ole Miss is interested in hiring him to replace Nutt, he isn't hard to find.

“I haven’t heard from anybody, but I’m not too hard to find,” Leach told the paper. “It’s a great job. I’m sure the (Ole Miss) administration has a certain individual it is looking for, and I’m sure they’ll find the right guy.”

As for whether or not Leach will be a target or get the job, nobody knows.

The fact of the matter is that anytime an opening is created at a program these days, Leach's name is mentioned as a replacement. Just recently he was mentioned as a candidate at Tulane, his name has come up in rumors about Arizona, and he was mentioned at places like Miami and Maryland last season as well.

He's yet to be hired anywhere, and as long as he has his current lawsuit against his former employer Texas Tech, the odds are he won't be on the sidelines anywhere. Which is a shame. Leach is one of my favorite coaches in the sport, along with one of the best, and this sport is just better off when he's a part of it.

Adam Leach is a glorified cry baby who is only playing Division 1 football because of who his his Daddy is and that TT didn't want to pay Leach $800,000 for turning their program around are the reasons he was let go PERIOD..... He has the highest winning percentage at TT with the exception of one coach back in the 30's. 10 consecutive winning seasons and 9 consecutive bowls. He brought Tech out of the dark and put them on the map who cares if he wore sunglasses doing it.

If you are going to correct the author of this article on why Leach got fired then you need to produce some facts. Like where did you dredge up Mike Leach's overspending claim? Wait you think college coaches have sole power over the bank account lol think again. The AD has the power him and the board that oversees him. Your comment is really funny when you picture Mike Leach with the Football programs entire revenue checkbook out buying mouthpieces and shoulder pads at Dicks Sporting Goods!

Leach will coach again once the lawsuit has been settled.

I think that Leach is a good coach and hopefully has learned from his mistakes.  I think it will take a program like New Mexico or some other smaller football school to give Leach a way back into the league.  Bigger schools are not looking for someone that is already in a lawsuit.

ROFLOL.  I live in New Mexico, and the locals are praying he comes here.  After reading this article, I think its not likely.  Hrm...

Wish it were a possibility, as well.  Whoever is hired as coach has nowhere to go but up...New Mexico is without a doubt the worst program in the country.  If he is expressing interest in an SEC school, we're doomed.

Leach is a good coach. He made a mistake. He has been paying the price. He deserves another chance. If people can forgive Mike Vick and give him another chance, then so does Mike Leach.

Macket, Brassell, and Moncrief would love that hire. As a Hog fan I would not like it so much, but I don't think they could make a better choice than the pirate.
