Former West Virginia and Michigan head coach Rich Rodriguez admits he has enjoyed his time as an analyst for CBS Sports Network. But that does not mean he has given up on the idea of returning to coaching.

"I still have the hunger to coach," Rodriguez told Tim Brando on Tuesday's edition of the Tim Brando Show. "We'll see what happens in the next three or four weeks."

Rodriguez and Brando discussed the challenges of coaching at a place like Ole Miss, where you are competing with some of the best programs in the nation. Rich Rod, along with former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach, have been some of the names immediately tied to both current and future vacancies all over the FBS. Check out the video below to hear Rodriguez weigh in on life as an analyst, and his thoughts on dealing with the legalities of former employers.

I guess PaPa Mattison is BETTER than JOHN CHAVIS AT LSU.
What your failing to realize is Mattison is doing it with RR's subpar recruits.  If you dont recall this was the worst defense in college football last year and this year it is top 20 with the SAME players.  Amazing what competent coaching can do.  Im not saying Chavis isnt good but I guarantee you if Mattison had LSU's players to work with on defense it certainly wouldnt miss a beat. Just wait to he gets his guys in Ann Arbor.

I don't think Rich Rod is angling for the Penn State job as some may think.  He has to know that they would rather let a pedophile run free on campus before they hire him.  Oh wait.....

This list of candidates for the Penn State job seems pretty interesting and NOT filled with the usual suspects.

i respectfully disagre with those who think of spread offenses as gimmicky or only viable in "lesser athletic" conferences. spreads work and coaches like rodriguez , leach , urban meyer , gus malzhan and chad morris are all capable of competing in big time conferences and being succesful using such a scheme. dont start with the " we dont run it in the big boy conferences" crapola...meyer won a bcs and malzhan won it as a coordinator in auburn. kelly at oregon may get a second straight shot at a bcs nc using the spread. what it does is take away defensive speed by opening up the field..you put the right atheletes out there and you can beat anybodys defense...anybodys. there are always doubters and conference nut huggers who say defense defense defense...but cam and timmy worked very good sec defenses all the way to the chrystal fotball..using a version of the spread that rich rodriguez was one of the early and successful coaches in implementing. shut up with the " it aint gonna work against a fast defense " garbage already..it does , it has , and it always will !

F-Rod should take the PSU job. His dalliances with the cheerleading staff whilst in Morgantown qualify him perfectly for the position & he could hire a vindicated Jerry Sandusky as D Coordinator. Wouldn't that be special??

Are you frickin kidding me cuddy??? YOU KNOW RICH ROD and you make a post like that??? Maybe you can tell all of us where Elvis is these days...By the way you have some studying to do, the Michigan defense is top 20 in all categories this year and have arguably the best defensive coordinator in college football in Greg Mattison.

Rich Rod is a good coach and a good man, but he made a few bad decisions along the way. His offense would work fine in conferences that are not full of 4 star and 5 star atheletes. He even made a good WVU team up of a lot of 2 and 3 star guys. The down side is that better conferences (Big Ten, SEC, Big 12 and Pac 12) would catch up to his offense scheme fairly quick and they ALL have much faster defenses.

RichRod will do fine in the right school. Michigan was in a bad mess when he took over and he put together the team their playing with now. Hoke is a better fit there. The big ten is a certain kind of league and not for everyone. I hope Urban meyer doesn't go there. He will change the landscape for the whole conference by putting in winning way's their not used to. But even he won't win a BCS championship there. The overall best talent every year is just going south from now on. If you are a top prospect and can play where ever you want, most kids like the warm weather. And the best looking girls always head to the sunshine!!

Im curious. What qualifies as a top university? Because if Michigan is still considered such, then there are alot of top universities out there.
