Former North Carolina head coach Butch Davis was not named in any of the nine allegations from the NCAA against the Tar Heels' football program. But his potential role in several aspects of the investigation, particularly his relationship with John Blake and tutor Jennifer Wiley, have been a hot topic of discussion for those following the story. Davis has maintained that he did not do anything wrong, but has not taken many opportunities to elaborate on his side of the story.

Until now.

The former Tar Heels head coach took to YouTube to issue his first lengthy explanation of the events leading to his dismissal in Chapel Hill. The video runs nearly ten minutes, and it looks as though Davis has chosen each of his words very carefully. He addresses Blake, Wiley, the hot-button Blue Zone, and his opinion that the firing just days before training camp was the decision of Chancellor Holden Thorp.

You can check out the video below, and leave your comments on Davis' prepared statement. The comment section was not shockingly disabled from the YouTube page, so you might as well drop them here.

Yeah, and mean old UNC made poor little Weslye take all those benefits at the hotel he was staying at which is the reason he was ran off.  Well, not quite, I guess.  He wasn't ran off for taking extra benefits.  No, little Wes was ran off because it came to light nationally.  Little Stevie knew it, or should have.  Everyone else in town did.  And how 'bout the rest of the Gamecock players getting super cheap rooms?  Nothing done that I've heard about.

South Carolina, the school that withdrew from the ACC because asking athletes to score 800 on the SAT was just too demanding.  That, Mr. wayzup, is a well documented fact you can't deny.

The violations he walked into at Miami didn't stop under his watch, he just was better than his predecessors at keeping a lid on it.  And it is the same at UNC...you think Blake and company just out of the blue started to do the things they got busted for?  He had to know it was going on and didn't do enough or didn't do anything at all to stop it.  Unfortunately, the wrongdoings at UNC drew in a former NC player who made it to South Carolina (Wes Saunders) and it cost him his last season as a Gamecock.

Butch can make all the prepared statements he wants, fact is just about everywhere he's coached has been surrounded by violations and wrongdoing....I don't think that's coincidence and I certainly don't think he's innocent as he would like you to believe.
