Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel was in a Boone County circuit courtroom on Friday morning where he pleaded guilty to the Class B misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated. Pinkel was given a 30-day suspended sentence in Boone County Jail but will instead serve two years of unsupervised probation.

Pinkel was charged with the DWI on Wednesday night after driving home from a dinner with some friends.

He is currently serving a one week suspension without pay from Missouri, and will not be with the team when it faces Texas Tech on Saturday. He will return to his coaching duties on Thursday in time to coach the Tigers in their regular season finale against Kansas.

Gary Pinkel pleads guilty to DWI

Dear Rockchalk,

I don't think anyone needs any help preparing for the jayhawks.  Does kansas even have a football program anymore? Pretty sure Mangino ate it before he left.

I'm as proud to be a Missouri Tiger today as I was on Tuesday.  Gary made a mistake and it will not soon be forgotten or maybe even forgiven.  I make mistakes too and I know he and our team will be better off than ever because of this humbling experience.  M-I-Z!

RockChalk, Pinkel isn't going to be much help to Mizzou against KU.  You have to wonder which is more embarrassing, Pinkel's DUI or the fact they are paying him $31,000 a week?

Oh by the way, he only needs 16 more DUIs to catch Eddie Sutton. In its infinite wisdom, the college basketball hall of fame had no issue with putting Eddie in the club. So much for justice and accountability.

All the police have to do is sit outside any bar/restaurant any night of the week and pull over whoever pulls out of the parking lot. Three out of 4 will blow .08 or higher. Its unfortunate, but true. Unless you get caught, most people are not going to change this habit.

*** Warning: Tasteless comment to come *** (I'm trying to be tongue-in-cheek, but that might be inappropriate to say too)

THANK GOD you didn't fondle anybody while you were drunk, Mr. Pinkel...  At least you can rest easy on that issue, 'cause you were only steering a 3000 pound bullet towards unaware, unsuspecting innocents...  Way to go!  Small victories count for the coaching world these days...

(On a serious note, I think a better message could have been sent by suspending him for both final games...  You can't make these kind of mistakes as a representative of a major University... Would a player get only a 1 game suspension for this?)

Way to go mizzou - compromise your standards for a record.  Sounds kind of like Penn State and all the Sandusky crap finally coming out AFTER JoePa secured the D1 record.

Two things I guess -- the Mizzou imposed commnity service and penalities that will cost Pinkel as much as $306,000 ($231,000 if the dont make a bowl game, $306,000 if they do) PLUS what ever fines, community services, etc that the Court imposes, 2 years probabtion, etc (the standard stuff for a 1st offense) all less than 3 days after the event--no evasions, no delays etc --man up and take you medicine.  Second - DWI is in NO WAY remotely comparable to allegations of a cover up of child abuse.  Also, I would point out is that the Penn State info came out after the grand jury returned indictments -- start talking about what the grand jury is doing early and see what kind of trouble that gets you into.

Dodgepower - I didn't see mizzou signing up colorado and nebraska once they left the conference.  We have no reason to play mizzou anymore.  Sorry you cannot sellout any basketball games other than kansas.  Yes - congrats on being selected to the SEC.  You and your fanbase can trade squirell recipes with the Arkie and Ole Miss fans.

RockChalk you are a boy genious........It is actually more for him........two game suspension with no money sacrifice as you are not paid vs a one game suspension and the cost of to the tune of 300k.............Seems about fair to me especially since the money goes to a charity...............Also you are right we arent gonna let you win.........Big babies and your crying........"Oh leaving the big 12 so we wont play you anymore"............Just find it funny as we are more relevant than you right now lol
