UCLA was blown out 50-0 by USC on Saturday night to finish the season at 6-6 and 5-4 in the Pac-12, but thanks to some NCAA sanctions currently in place at USC, the Bruins will be playing in the inaugural Pac-12 Championship against Oregon on Friday. Which means that there's a chance the 6-6 Bruins could end up playing in the Rose Bowl.

Though it doesn't seem that is going to be enough to save Rick Neuheisel's job at the school. According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, Neuheisel will meet with UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero after the game to discuss his future at the school, and the report says the chances Neuheisel will retain his job are "bleak."

When Guerrero was asked about Neuheisel's job status on Saturday, he responded to a question about whether or not a Rose Bowl berth would be enough to save Neuheisel's job by answering "that we're preparing to play for the Rose Bowl should be exciting for all Bruins fans." An answer that doesn't exactly answer anything. When asked if he would bring Neuheisel back if UCLA reached the Rose Bowl, Guerrero ended the interview.

Neuheisel just finished his fourth season at UCLA, and he's 21-28 in that span.

Rick had to go. No improvement in 4 years.
UCLA has to go out and get a really good coach. There is no reason not to. They have the money, they have the facilities. If you can't recruit to UCLA, you really should be in another line of work.
The rest of their sports programs are at the top. Basketball notwithstanding. Even there, they usually have a team good enough for the NCAA tournament. Why their football team continues to struggle is obvious, bad coaching! Stick a fork in your wallet, and hire someone familiar with winning at major programs.

Henry Winkler would be a good choice. He could bring All-League linebacker Bobby Bouchet with him.

Neuheisel done after Pac-12 title game

Good college quarterback, lousy coach.  Screwed up a good thing at Colorado, did the same thing at Washington, took the UCLA program nowhere for 4 years.  Most guys don't get three chances.  If this guy get's a 4th, he'll be working for ONE DUMB A.D.

Why would Chris Peterson want a job at UCLA? He could get a job at other schools with storied programs. He has turned them down thus far but when he decides to leave he will go to a program that is used to finishing top 15.

It is important for UCLA to make a decision very soon, because Arizona has already grabbed RichRod and both Arizona State and Washington State look like they are going to fire their head coaches, and that is only in the Pac 12.  There is no question that both Slick Rick and Guerrero MUST be fired if UCLA has any hopes at all of turning around their football and hoops (1-5) program.  Guerrero has destroyed the Football program and is well on his way to destroying the hoops program.  I guess Womans Softball is all he is concerned about now.  UCLA needs a new A.D, who will bring in a quality Football H.C.

Peterson would only be a good coach for UCLA if they have a truck driving school.

I am a USC fan and I'd never thought I'd be saying this but I feel sorry for ucla. Ever since Dan Guerrero took over they've been lame. He hires Karl doorbell and neuheisel and they've never been the same. It's time for ucla to fire Dan guerrero.

You would have to be nuts to take the UCLA job and try to compete with USC.

buffalorx95,

I couldn't agree more with everything you said. Known at CU as The Destroyer, he can now move on to finish off yet another program.
Colorado, Washington, UCLA. How many programs does this guy have to destroy before the idiots in college football realize this guy does nothing.
I too have nothing against UCLA but a Oregon dropping 100 on Slick Dick would be a nice going away present.
