One of the most wide-open Heisman races in recent memory has entered the final stage, with the finalists for this year's Heisman Trophy being named on Monday evening.

The following players will be in attendance for the presentation of the award in New York City, in alphabetical order:

Montee Ball, Wisconsin
Robert Griffin III
, Baylor
Andrew Luck, Stanford
Tyrann Mathieu, LSU
Trent Richardson
, Alabama

The iconic stiff-arm trophy will be presented to "the most outstanding player in collegiate football" on Saturday evening in the official ceremony hosted by the Heisman Trophy Trust.  The last time five players were finalists for the Heisman Trophy was 2009 when Mark Ingram, Toby Gerhart, Colt McCoy, Tim Tebow, and Ndamukong Suh all made the trip to New York.

Why would Ball be there, he ONLY scored 38 TD's so far and has a chance to be the all-time scorer for one season in college football history.
You want to talk about overrated, lets talk about Luck. He played against 2 good teams this year. Lost one and won the other in overtime. The rest of the pac-10 outside of Oregon and USC, stinks. At least Wisconsin went up against a few good defense's. Michigan St., twice. Ohis St., Penn St. Defense's that are pretty good, and Michigan St's is great. 7th in overall defense in the nation.
I don't mind you wanting your guy to win, but don't discount some of the others, who are just as deserving. And in some cases, more so.

It'll come down to Luck and Ball, and Luck will get it. He was pretty much guaranteed at the start of the year to win it, and he has done nothing to lose it. Ball came out of nowhere and he is a junior, so Luck will get it this time, especially given his golden boy status.

I'm actually pretty happy Ball made the list, a few games ago that was nowhere near a possibility.

This is between the two QB's.  Luck has the advantage, though RGIII finished very strongly.  Richardson splits votes with Ball from Wisconsin, and mathieu from LSU.  The last two should have not even been invited.  I like Luck because he will get all of the West Coast vote.  he was easily the best player in the nation, and Stanford would have gone nowheres without him.  Ball was very good, but everyone knows that QB Wilson is the reason why Wisconsin is the Big 10 Champions.  I like Luck in a close race over RGIII.

Probably comes down to Griffin and Luck. Ball cancels out Richardson, and had a much better year. Tyran Mathieu is a stud but he has more years to do it and that will factor in, it shouldn't but it will. Without Mathieu, LSU isn't in the title game. Truth.

I'm a Badger fan so I'd love to see Ball get it, but I could live with Griffin, Luck or Mathieu winning instead. Trent Richardson should not finish ahead of Montee Ball, though.

Ball wins, and I hate Wisconsin.  I hope that RGlll wins.  Mathieu will finish last

For a change, I think it should go to someone who hasn't been paid to play.  That would eliminate Mathieu and Richardsion.

Montee Ball is listed first so that means he will win.

I know, the list is in alphabetical order by last name but that is just a coincidence.

Tongue out

  1. I'm pulling for Luck.  I think he got a break in that James or Barkley woult have split the West Coast vote.  (He's better than Barkley in spite of the stats. If he had Barkley's receivers he be unstoppable).  Two SEC and two RB will also split votes.  As with Gerharts loss to Ingram (biggest mistake ever) the voters from the northeast hold the deciding vote...they go to bed before Luck plays...it will be close.
