One of the most wide-open Heisman races in recent memory has entered the final stage, with the finalists for this year's Heisman Trophy being named on Monday evening.

The following players will be in attendance for the presentation of the award in New York City, in alphabetical order:

Montee Ball, Wisconsin
Robert Griffin III
, Baylor
Andrew Luck, Stanford
Tyrann Mathieu, LSU
Trent Richardson
, Alabama

The iconic stiff-arm trophy will be presented to "the most outstanding player in collegiate football" on Saturday evening in the official ceremony hosted by the Heisman Trophy Trust.  The last time five players were finalists for the Heisman Trophy was 2009 when Mark Ingram, Toby Gerhart, Colt McCoy, Tim Tebow, and Ndamukong Suh all made the trip to New York.

Whoopideeedoo .... Bama does not deserve to be there either, they lost to LSU, played div 2 Georgia southern (who put up more yards on them than LSU did), and played a schedule any team could win with.  How many top 10 teams did Bama beat?????  ZERO ... OK St. beat 2 Top 10 teams.  This is the most tainted of all BCS championships. This game will be the least watched of any BCS NCG ever, the ratings will be at the bottom.  The only reason Bama is in is because of crooked behavior in both the coaches poll voting and the Harris poll voting, amazing that the SEC will buy off anyone.

Agreed!!!..Oklahoma St lost to Iowa State..Alabama lost to LSU by 3..Alabama DEFINITELY deserves this title shot. If you dont think the 2 best teams are playing, you're wrong. Boise State??..Great team, yes, not better than the top 2. Stanford??..Nope. And like i said, OK ST lost to Iowa St, thats a far worse defeat than Alabama losing by 3 to LSU. They got it right.
..With that said, the award should go to Ball or Griffin. Richardson gets hype, but cmon he didnt have numbers like Ball, not even close. Luck is all hype, guys have way better numbers. Matthieu is great, a real gamechanger, but he's not the Heisman. My 2 cents.

Do you even watch football?  Griffin is by FAR the most dynamic player in the country.

Bet Richardson is taken b4 Ball in the NFL draft.  He is the better player period.  As for Balls tds- play in the SEC and see how many he would get.

Oklahoma State didn't get screwed....they lost to Iowa State!!!!  You don't play in the BCS championship by losing to Iowa Sate.

huskermav, it all runs in cycles. Don't forget the 90s when the Huskers dominated college football every year. I'm sure people didn't like that either, but they were the best team going and everyone had to deal with it. Now, the SEC is the best and everyone has to deal with it.

"the most outstanding player in collegiate football" narrows it down to Ball and Griffin in my opinion. Those are sick numbers they put up.

the heisman is a complete joke i will almost guarentee trent richardson wins based on where he plays even though he has 15! 15! less TDs than montee ball. thats not a minor number. ball has won the badgers games. i dont like the argument about having team around them making them less relevent to the teams success. Alabama and lsu are stacked. i wouldnt mind seeing luck or griffin win just becase it would make sense. but the love affair with the SEC has ruined the heisman. its unbleiveably bias.
