There hasn't exactly been a lot of good news about the Penn State football program in recent months, and the program got a bit more on Saturday. There are multiple reports coming out of State College that quarterback Matt McGloin got into a fight with receiver Curtis Drake following practice on Saturday. A fight that ended with McGloin being knocked out cold.

The details of what happened or what caused the fight are still sketchy at this point, but apparently there was a heated exchange during practice, and when Drake approached McGloin in the locker room after practice, things went downhill. Police were called to the scene to investigate afterward.

Making things even scarier, McGloin's father told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that his son suffered a seizure and a possible concussion. McGloin was treated at Mount Nittany Medical Center and has since returned home.

Penn State is scheduled to play Houston in the Ticketcity Bowl on January 2nd.

Here's the official statement released by Penn State, in full:

Penn State Police were called to the football locker room this afternoon to investigate a report of a fight between two members of the Nittany Lions football team -- Matt McGloin and Curtis Drake -- after they finished practice.

McGloin was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center where he was examined, treated and released.

Campus police and Penn State's Office of Judicial Affairs will investigate the incident and report results as they would for any other student involved in an incident on campus.

Messing around aside, this is just a pathetic situation. 2 guys on the same team fighting should get broken up pretty quickly, not having someone get knocked out. It's even more pathetic that they couldn't handle this without campus police showing up. I guess when it sprinkles its a hurricane for Penn state. As a Michigan fan, but also a Big Ten fan I hate seeing bad things keep happening to Penn State.

On one hand, these guys are going to wish they had Paterno to protect them from the school's consequences because they may be harder on them since they are under scrutiny for covering up so much misconduct by the football team during Paterno's reign.

On the other hand, I bet they are glad it happened on campus because anywhere else they would have been arrested.
