As you can see in the video above, the demolition of Washington's Husky Stadium has begun. On Tuesday it started with the destruction of the overhang above the stands on the south side of the stadium. The same overhand that helped keep the noise of the crowd inside Husky Stadium and caused the place to literally shake when it became loud enough.

It's the first phase of a $250 million makeover for the stadium, and the demolition phase of the building will carry on in parts all winter long. Contruction of the new stadium will begin in May, and the plan is for the new stadium to be ready in time for the 2013 season.

Washington will play its home games at CenturyLink Field -- home of the Seattle Seahawks -- during the 2012 season.
