Missouri and North Carolina will battle in Shreveport on Monday evening in the Independence Bowl, but unfortunately for both teams, Missouri mascot Truman the Tiger already got his hands on the Independence Bowl trophy. The problem is Truman couldn't keep his hands on the trophy for very long, as he dropped it and broke it. Those are the remnants of the trophy pictured above.

When asked if he broke the trophy, Truman nodded his head and when asked what happened he threw his hands in the air like he just didn't care, and then covered his eyes while crying. So, in the end, he did care.

This is what the trophy looked like before it was broken.

What remains of the Independence Bowl Trophy

You know you stold my comment dude! That is one ugly ass trophy and evidently they have not changed styles since the 70's which was last time I saw a trophy come my way :) Puke doo doo brown wood and extremely dated brassy looking gold trim. The crystal is like you said grandma's punch bowl!

If only the Independence Bowl could have come up with a replacement opponent for that listless Tarheel squad that Mizzou smashed.

Come on! Give old Truman a break. The poor feline is headed to the SEC where he'll be the 3rd best tiger, at best and was a bit nervous. That's all.

Truman the Tiger was probably out back drinking with the Mizzou Head Coach before he dropped the trophy; alcoholism runs in his family.

What remains of the Independence Bowl Trophy

What really pisses me of, is that it was filled with icecream and all the toppings. What a terrible waste!

It being broken by the Mascot is about the only thing interesting about this trophy.

Thanks Truman

That is one ugly trophy. The top looks like something that would be on an old lady's coffee table and the base has more advertisements than a nascar driver's racing suit.

I was at the game.  It was a bit cold, but the game was somewhat entertaining and the mizzou fans I sat with were friendly; there were a few drunk ones that were hilarious.  As a Razorback fan I welcomed them to the SEC and told them we were glad to have them join the best conference in the galaxy.

The trophy bit was clumsy but stuff happens.

Congrats to miz-zou on their Indy Bowl victory!
