Missouri and North Carolina will battle in Shreveport on Monday evening in the Independence Bowl, but unfortunately for both teams, Missouri mascot Truman the Tiger already got his hands on the Independence Bowl trophy. The problem is Truman couldn't keep his hands on the trophy for very long, as he dropped it and broke it. Those are the remnants of the trophy pictured above.

When asked if he broke the trophy, Truman nodded his head and when asked what happened he threw his hands in the air like he just didn't care, and then covered his eyes while crying. So, in the end, he did care.

This is what the trophy looked like before it was broken.

What remains of the Independence Bowl Trophy

Make Missouri pay for the cost of a new trophy.  You break it, you bought it.  Also, a bowl, which hands out a $1,000,000+ to each team, didn't have the foresight to own a replica tropy?  Poor planning on the Indepence Bowl Committee. I'm also surprised there aren't any members of the Independence Bowl committee who could at the last minute blanket antique dealers, custom glass botiques, trophy stores, or sports shops in a strip mall to buy a replacement.  Seems like the Bowl people are about as talented as the 2 teams playing.

What remains of the Independence Bowl Trophy

I guess no one is going to fill the bowl with candy then?  Truman, some dude in a costume, broke the trophy.  Oh joy, excitement.  Can't Lee just make another one?  Ok, Lee had the trophy insured for 5 billion dollars and he convinced Truman to break it so they can split the insurance.  Ok, I have more....  Makes me think of a bowling trophy for finishing 5th in a league :PTongue out
