There's nothing quite like Nike's Pro Combat Uniforms and Oregon's football team. Together, they're in a whole new category when it comes to uniforms.

The former unveiled the latter's uniforms Tuesday morning as the Ducks prepare to take on Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. The technology behind the uniforms debuted last season in Oregon's uniforms in the national championship game and will make their way to the school's threads in their third consecutive BCS game on January 2nd. Pretty sharp (at least as far as Ducks uniform standards go) if you ask me.

“Nike’s relationship with the University of Oregon represents a forward-thinking approach to innovation and design. Our goal is to help build better athletes by providing them with state-of-the-art-innovation combined with a deep knowledge and understanding of their heritage” said Todd Van Horne, Nike’s Creative Director for Football. The latest Nike Pro Combat system of dress uniform delivers more on-field performance benefits than ever before while pushing the limits on creativity and design. The Oregon Ducks truly represent Nike's approach in developing athletes from the inside-out.”

Oregon won the program's only Rose Bowl in 1917 and lost the last time they were in Pasadena to Ohio State. They - and uber-booster and Nike boss Phil Knight - are hoping 2012 results in a not only new uniforms, but a win as well.

“Oregon represents the gold-standard when it comes to merging science and innovation with athletic performance and we are excited to continue our partnership with Nike by unveiling the next iteration in uniform innovation for the Rose Bowl” said Chip Kelly. “Nike always starts by listening to the voice of the athlete as they continue to bring the most intuitive technology to the game.”

You can view full resolution photos of the uniforms and more information on Nike's website and Facebook page. Oregon's Rose Bowl uniforms released

As a ducks fan I think it's just funny to see all the hate. Fans and recruits love the uniforms. They don't do it because it will help win the game, Oregon already works their hardest in every game (see the near comeback against USC). So I think it's just funny to see people whine about something that literally affects nothing. I love my ducks, always have and always will.

Ever notice how the traditional football power schools never feel the need to modify their uniforms, nor do they add black to their uniforms when they are not part of the school colors. Alabama, Texas, Penn State, Nebraska, Tennessee, Arkansas, LSU, USC, Oklahoma, Auburn just to name a few.
I do recall Tennessee using some black helmets and uniforms before.  Same for LSU (black helmets)

Alabama has very unflashy and ugly as hell uniforms but they sign a top 5 class year after year. Same for Oklahoma, Texas etc. etc.
So you don't have to have funky ass uniforms to attract recruits

All of this uniform nonsense was originally spawned in Miami, with the ridiculous striping, swooshes, and illegible numerals. Eventually, Oregon will be the first NCAA football team to wear numbered hoodies and Timberland cleats (without shoestrings).

That is a monstrously hillarious statement! if the recruits you say are drawn to oregon because of the unis, your nuts!!!! all major college teams recieve a ton of cloths and what not. I admit recruits might be helped to make a choice by the magnificent facilities available at Oregon, but the uniforms? if one of these future young stars is drawn by that, I do not think that Chip Kelly would even consider them for the team. Amazing people can even consider this an issue LOL!

At some point the NCAA needs to step in and make it where teams can only have 3 jerseys maximum and 2 helmets max.  It is illegal for a booster to give a prospective student athelete money or clothes but hello Oregon gets just that in a round about way.  The Nike CEO went to Oregon and they get a new jersey for their bowl games.  If you think for one second that Oregon doesnt use that in their recruiting pitch youre out of your freaking mind.

If the NCAA really wants to get rid of the broken rules they need to eliminate the chance for the rules to be broken.  If everyone has the same number of jerseys and helmets then the playing field for recruting is level.  What I would like to know is why the NCAA lets these athletic programs pay for flights and hotels for these kids to come look at their schools.  Thats a bunch of crap.  Michigan State didnt offer to pay for me to fly to Lansing or stay at a hotel while I was there visiting.  I will end up donating more money to Michigan State than over 98% of the football players, and 100% of the football players that decided not to go to Michigan State.  But still they are allowed to pay all this money to try and get them to go to the school.  All the while my tuition rates kept going up because the school wasnt making enough money.  Yeah they spend a lot of money upgrading the locker room every 3 years, upgrading the practice facilities, feeding the teams 3 meals 10 months out of the year, etc.

PS - For those that argu Oregon chokes in big games.  Let's see.  They held Cam Newton to 19pts for almost 60 minutes, all he ended up doing was lighting up the entire NFL a few months later.  I believe oregon outgained them as well in that game.  LSU last year?  Choke?  well their true freshmen did fumble twice inside his own 20 yard line, one fumble going for a TD.  Is that a team choke or a true freshman having his worst game of the year?  Oh, and yes the ducks outgained LSU in that game and scored more against them than any other pathetic SEC offense.  Don't mind you it was a home game for LSU as well, with over 80,000 LSU fans, or so it seemed.

Does oregon need to beat the badgers??? HELL YES.  Have they choked, and are they due some added respect with their Auburn and LSU losses?  Yes.
