There's nothing quite like Nike's Pro Combat Uniforms and Oregon's football team. Together, they're in a whole new category when it comes to uniforms.

The former unveiled the latter's uniforms Tuesday morning as the Ducks prepare to take on Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. The technology behind the uniforms debuted last season in Oregon's uniforms in the national championship game and will make their way to the school's threads in their third consecutive BCS game on January 2nd. Pretty sharp (at least as far as Ducks uniform standards go) if you ask me.

“Nike’s relationship with the University of Oregon represents a forward-thinking approach to innovation and design. Our goal is to help build better athletes by providing them with state-of-the-art-innovation combined with a deep knowledge and understanding of their heritage” said Todd Van Horne, Nike’s Creative Director for Football. The latest Nike Pro Combat system of dress uniform delivers more on-field performance benefits than ever before while pushing the limits on creativity and design. The Oregon Ducks truly represent Nike's approach in developing athletes from the inside-out.”

Oregon won the program's only Rose Bowl in 1917 and lost the last time they were in Pasadena to Ohio State. They - and uber-booster and Nike boss Phil Knight - are hoping 2012 results in a not only new uniforms, but a win as well.

“Oregon represents the gold-standard when it comes to merging science and innovation with athletic performance and we are excited to continue our partnership with Nike by unveiling the next iteration in uniform innovation for the Rose Bowl” said Chip Kelly. “Nike always starts by listening to the voice of the athlete as they continue to bring the most intuitive technology to the game.”

You can view full resolution photos of the uniforms and more information on Nike's website and Facebook page. Oregon's Rose Bowl uniforms released

I personally think the uniforms are badass, but these teams who feel the need to utilize them...(I.E. Oregon, Boise St, Oklahoma State, Etc....) are looking for any and all gimmicks to market themselves into relevance.

FilthyTatro, It's not maketing them into relevence, it's maketing them into competitiveness.  While many, many fans love the uniforms, fans are not the target market.  The target market are those players you're talking about.  THINK ABOUT IT.  Most of your top players are a little narcissistic.  This comes with wanting to be the best at everything they do.  These guy thrive on the limelight and flashy uniforms do bring them more air time.  If they can win games and look good doing it, well that's just a bonus.  It's obviously a strategy that's working.  These teams are bringing in recruits that they had no chance at 10 years ago.  How many BCS games have Oregon, BSU, and Okie St. been to lately.  HMMM, are you seeing my point.  There may not be much "Tradition" there but you can bet there's a ***load of BCS dollars.

The Dark Green is good.  That neon green in the bcsng was brutal.   as trendy as oregon can be, i agree with the guy who said he would rather watch the ducks than penn state.   their away uniform is literally white pants, a white jersey and a white helmet.  would it kill you to put a stripe across the chest?   if a stripe on the pants is too radical for ya, how about just a small square of blue at the end of the pants for contrast.   i say this, b/c nebraksa and penn state are not helping with the image of an outdated conference.   even wisconsin and my buckeye's uni's could use sprucing up.

Schools that do not have any tradition or long term success, have to fill that void by "fabricating" a faux tradition. I personally think the uniforms are badass, but these teams who feel the need to utilize them...(I.E. Oregon, Boise St, Oklahoma State, Etc....) are looking for any and all gimmicks to market themselves into relevance.  In a way, it is working. The players who want to wear shinny shoes, and chrome helmets and neon stripes on TV will go and play for these schools.

But the players who want to win National Championships will continue to go and play for the schools like, Oklahoma, Alabama, Nebraska, USC, Texas etc.....

I would rather see a little something different than the stupid, plain crap schools like Penn St, Nebraska, Alabama, etc. have worn since the depression. You may as well watch those teams on a 19 inch black and white set with a coat hanger antennae. Hell, let em play with the duck feathers too...

The gloves thing is a retarded fashion trend.  wow look wha tpicture I make when I put my hands together!!  Look at me, please?  Oh please look at me!  I need more attention!!  Also, since when did uniforms become "the gold standard to merging science and innovation with athletic performance..." as Chip Kelly so eloquently stated?  Now I really hope wisconsin kicks the leaving science and innovation outta them!!

As always there are going to be people that think these types of uni's are ugly, but I'm not one of them.

Keep it up Ducks.  Looking good!
