On Sunday the Denver Broncos, and Tim Tebow in particular, were blowing the minds of football fans across the country while beating the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the NFL playoffs. It was pretty much a wonderful day to be a Broncos fan, but it was also a day that may find the team in court soon.

That's because after the Broncos beat the Steelers in overtime there was this tweet from Texas A&M's Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Jason Cook.

Yes, before the game a man parachuted into the stadium waving a flag that said "12th man" and the flag was waved during the game. Which seems completely harmless and pretty much commonplace, but Texas A&M owns the trademark for it and is planning on getting its money.

It's not the first time that the school has gotten involved in something like this, as it filed a lawsuit against the Seattle Seahawks in 2006 for the same thing. Now any Seahawks broadcasts that mention the crowd as "the 12th man" also has to mention Texas A&M's trademark.

Seems pretty stupid, right? Yeah, that's because it is, though there's also an easy solution. Instead of referring to your home crowd as "the 12th man" just start referring to them as "the 12th player." Then Texas A&M will have to find a whole new way to waste everybody's time.

How typical for the a&m losers. I guess the Razorbacks should have sued the Redskins for using the nick name Hogs since Gibbs had been a assistent at Arkansas when he was young. Grow up aggies!!!

"This may be one of the most moronic things that a College can complain about.  Whenever a restaurant in College Station Texas serves "Buffalo Wings"  do they give royalties to Anchor Bay Restaurant in Buffalo, since that is where they were invented?  No.. they don't.  EVERY announcer refers to the home crowd as the 12th man...or in the NBA...as the 6th man.  Welcome to the SEC...prepare for alot of butt whoopings to come your way A&M."  --denster30

Didn't they invent that term up in Boston for Kevin McHale?

You'll see how fast those 'just' words mean. A&M haters sure can pick the silliest thing to come down on. A&M is not the only entity to trademark a phrase or words used in a certain way.

Hey hal, I think you just invented a term.  Texas A&M haters.  Is Texas A&M even relevant enough to hate, for anyone outside of Texas?  I can't tell you anything about their program.  They are an afterthought.  A joke.  That's why this is so outrageous.

This has absolutely nothing to do with "hating", anyone.  It has to do with Frivilous lawsuits.

What it's really about, is getting people talking about their school so they remain relevant, or re-emerge relevant.  Sad.  This guy think's hes clever, while I think it looks like a cry for help.  --Beaver56

Texas A&M reminds me so much of Michigan State. The Longhorns true rivals are the Sooners and the Wolverines are the Buckeyes. So, the unrequited obsession of each forlorn cow college causes some odd behavior from time to time. Poor things.

Proof positive that IP laws in this country need some tweaking.

"By The Way , What the Hell is a AGGIE ? a old lady short for Agnes?"  --Beasley Bruin

By the way, what are Red Sox? Are they anything like red high heels or a red light or a red door? Are Bostonians really all that into transvestite streetwalkers?
