No split title, Alabama No. 1 in AP Poll

If you had been wondering whether or not the AP Poll would recognize Alabama as this year's national champion or make a statement by keeping LSU ranked at No. 1, well, the answer is right up there for you.

Alabama is on top with LSU right behind them with Oklahoma State, Oregon and Arkansas rounding out the top five.

Also, what's really interesting about the poll aside from Alabama being on top is that Alabama got every first place vote but five. Of those five ballots that didn't put Alabama at the top, only one listed LSU. The other four had Oklahoma State.

The one voter who kept LSU at the top spot was Erik Gee, from KNML in Albuquerque, N.M.. Gee told CBSSports.com's Dennis Dodd in December that it would take "like a 63-0 pasting" by Alabama for the 39-year old radio host to change his vote after the BCS National Championship Game. He believes LSU won the right to the top spot with their performance prior to Monday's 21-0 loss to Alabama, and his final AP Poll vote reflected his firm stance on the issue.

Check out the final AP Poll of the 2011 season below:

1. Alabama (55)
2. LSU (1)
3. Oklahoma State (4)
4. Oregon
5. Arkansas
6. USC
7. Stanford
8. Boise State
9. South Carolina
10. Wisconsin
11. Michigan State
12. Michigan
13. Baylor
14. TCU
15. Kansas State
16. Oklahoma
17. West Virginia
18. Houston
19. Georgia
20. Southern Miss
21. Virginia Tech
22. Clemson
23. Florida State
24. Nebraska
25. Cincinnati

There will be no split title this year

BIg Daddy,

LSU already crushed Oregon and they did it with Jarrett LEE... A guy who has thrown 7 interceptions against Alabama in his last 2 games.

Oregon and Oklahoma State crush Alabama or LSU last night.  These teams have no offense at all.  It is easy for a defense to look great when an offense is absolutely pathetic.  These two teams could not score a single T.D. in two games, and that is terrible.  Of course we will never know.  That is the falacy of the BCS System.  The fact is that Oregon or Oklahoma State would have crushed either one of those two teams last night.  So much for LSU and their 3/1 odds to become the 2012-13 National Champions.

Rocking Volunteer

Why are you so bitter with sec football fans if you are so much more entertained by the pro game?  It just doesn't make sense, you seem completely driven to insult people in the south for no other reason than enjoying college football.  I personally am from Alabama and I can tell you first hand most people in Birmingham are Steelers fans because we have always felt a connection with being a steel city with hard workers and pride.  Obviously we aren't a steel city anymore, but most here still love the steelers.  We like football, probably a bit too much, but overall most people here are good hard working people who don't need to be attacked.

Hey rockingvoluntee, since you're such a huge NFL fan, enjoy watching the former SEC heisman Tebow play in the game your steelers are supposed to be in. SEC wins again!!! Big Ben is a scum bag and I couldn't pull for a team that played with that dirt bag.

Lot of haters out there. I am an ACC fan, but you have to admit SEC rules in football. You say the LSU offense sucked. That is because Alabama defense is so good. Bring any team in to the SEC including Oklahoma State and they will be dominated by a real football team. They play against nobody. SEC plays top 20 every week against each other.
