No split title, Alabama No. 1 in AP Poll

If you had been wondering whether or not the AP Poll would recognize Alabama as this year's national champion or make a statement by keeping LSU ranked at No. 1, well, the answer is right up there for you.

Alabama is on top with LSU right behind them with Oklahoma State, Oregon and Arkansas rounding out the top five.

Also, what's really interesting about the poll aside from Alabama being on top is that Alabama got every first place vote but five. Of those five ballots that didn't put Alabama at the top, only one listed LSU. The other four had Oklahoma State.

The one voter who kept LSU at the top spot was Erik Gee, from KNML in Albuquerque, N.M.. Gee told CBSSports.com's Dennis Dodd in December that it would take "like a 63-0 pasting" by Alabama for the 39-year old radio host to change his vote after the BCS National Championship Game. He believes LSU won the right to the top spot with their performance prior to Monday's 21-0 loss to Alabama, and his final AP Poll vote reflected his firm stance on the issue.

Check out the final AP Poll of the 2011 season below:

1. Alabama (55)
2. LSU (1)
3. Oklahoma State (4)
4. Oregon
5. Arkansas
6. USC
7. Stanford
8. Boise State
9. South Carolina
10. Wisconsin
11. Michigan State
12. Michigan
13. Baylor
14. TCU
15. Kansas State
16. Oklahoma
17. West Virginia
18. Houston
19. Georgia
20. Southern Miss
21. Virginia Tech
22. Clemson
23. Florida State
24. Nebraska
25. Cincinnati

SEC fans are funny - bunch of fat hicks who like to watch football on their couches and then live through the efforts of other people on a football field. LOsers.  Go out and get a job so the northern states don't have subsidize your poor azzz states like Louisiana.

Im not saying that Bama doesn't deserve to be #1; but LSU's offense was sooo bad that any other team in the top 5 would have held them under double digits. And I guarantee OK St. wouldve put up more than 1 TD.

you non-SEC fans were watching just like your favorite teams....at home.  Call it boring, but it is now 6 ina row for the SEC.  Guess "boring" football wins NCs, while your "exciting with no defense" teams enjoy eating wings and sitting on a sofa watching the SEC dominate!!!  LMAO!!!!  ROLL TIDE!!!

TheFacts, you are insane. That was real man football last night. Everyone likes high scoring shootouts, including me, but Oklahoma State would have gotten crushed by that Alabama defense. I can't even stand Alabama, but that's "TheFacts". We've seen the game you guys all want. Everyone wanted to give Oklahoma State a shot. However, the most prolific offense in the HISTORY of the NCAA (Oklahoma), with the number #1 pick in the NFL draft (Sam Bradford) brought their prolific offense to south beach and the gators held them to 14 while winning the national title. It's not coincidence that the SEC has won 8 of 14 BCS titles and 6 in a row. There is no conference even close!!!!!!!!! Now that's THEFACTS!!!!

Is the world laughing at six straight championships?  The SEC received its first loss in a BCS game, which goes to show you the only conference who can beat the SEC is the SEC.

bama's defense is getting all the credit, and they are a dimnatung defense. the quarterback played a very good game. early in the game there were at lest 3 times that he made sime very excellen throws. the receivers made good catches also. i have vever seen a quarterback of a top five team play that poorley. he got so he couldnt see the open man, and if he did he couldnt hit him.
