No split title, Alabama No. 1 in AP Poll

If you had been wondering whether or not the AP Poll would recognize Alabama as this year's national champion or make a statement by keeping LSU ranked at No. 1, well, the answer is right up there for you.

Alabama is on top with LSU right behind them with Oklahoma State, Oregon and Arkansas rounding out the top five.

Also, what's really interesting about the poll aside from Alabama being on top is that Alabama got every first place vote but five. Of those five ballots that didn't put Alabama at the top, only one listed LSU. The other four had Oklahoma State.

The one voter who kept LSU at the top spot was Erik Gee, from KNML in Albuquerque, N.M.. Gee told CBSSports.com's Dennis Dodd in December that it would take "like a 63-0 pasting" by Alabama for the 39-year old radio host to change his vote after the BCS National Championship Game. He believes LSU won the right to the top spot with their performance prior to Monday's 21-0 loss to Alabama, and his final AP Poll vote reflected his firm stance on the issue.

Check out the final AP Poll of the 2011 season below:

1. Alabama (55)
2. LSU (1)
3. Oklahoma State (4)
4. Oregon
5. Arkansas
6. USC
7. Stanford
8. Boise State
9. South Carolina
10. Wisconsin
11. Michigan State
12. Michigan
13. Baylor
14. TCU
15. Kansas State

18. Houston
19. Georgia
20. Southern Miss
21. Virginia Tech
22. Clemson
23. Florida State
24. Nebraska
25. Cincinnati

There will be no split-title this year

and this shows you how moroiinc the ap voters are, so a team that gets troucned 21-0 passes the 59 yrd lline late in the game, can still hang onto #2, while a team that actually showed some heart against stanford, as remember osu was down 14-0 in that game, what it proves that these voters don't watch the teams on the west coast and see the sec as this power confernce, when what it is is the biggest ever frontrunner conference, i mean it has 6 good teams and six losusy teams

The Big 12 was considered top to bottom the best conference this year and Oklahoma State made it through with flying colours.
Only by moronic Big 12(8) homers. It was inbred. They played no one significant OOC all year ... as a CONFERENCE> ROFLMAO

You guys don't understand good defense, and what a shock that is, you haven't seen it in years and years. LOL

This just goes to show what a joke the whole process is.

Oklahoma state would kill alabama or LSU. So many missed tackles, just like the first games, you can't count them all.
Only quesion would be, just how many points does Okla St score.  A lot more than 21.

LSU 's offence looked like something out of a div 2 school (no offence to div 2)

But maybe that makes sense as the SE conf played twice as many games against  the non-BCS teams than any over conference.

How anybody could put Okla state anywhere but #1 either shows their ignorance of football, or the built in bias of the system.

BCS championship on ESPN.
ESPN owns the rights to the SE conference.
Just follow the money folks.

Uh LSU couldn't pass the 50 yard line more less score a point.  OSU would score atleast 15 on both these teams.  When you run striaght into the teeth of the defense over and over there's a reason why they were so "dominte".  OSU would spread both teams from sideline to sideline and run them into the ground.  Just as they did to Stanford.  This title game was an offensive struggle with 2 very poor offenses.

They would? Glad you can see in the future dude.... Jesus christ... SEC homers are some of the stupidest goddamn people I've ever come across in my life abandoning any kind of logic whatsoever.

This is why division 1 needs a playoff, I think LSU and Bama would have had a hard time with a team that have a REAL qb like OK st or Stanford.

You have absolutely no basis for that statement though. The Big 12 was considered top to bottom the best conference this year and Oklahoma State made it through with flying colours. They beat more ranked teams than Alabama as well. Frankly, I think given a shot, they would have a good chance at knocking off LSU, with their garbage offence. Alabama I think would get the better of them though.

Glen- there's absolutely no way of knowing that. I happen to believe that OSU would have soundly trounced both Bama and LSU. Neither team has an offense to speak of, and OSU's offense with Weeden and Blackmon is so potent that neither SEC defense can slow it down.

What's preposterous is that you can gain only 92 yds in a national championship and still retain the #2 spot. Of course, there's clearly something wrong with the voting system when voters are telling people BEFORE THE GAME IS EVEN FREAKING PLAYED that they will vote for LSU even in a loss.

The whole system is so jacked up that it's no wonder we end up with the NC being one of the lamest games of the season and the "lesser" bowls providing the excitement. Unless you enjoy watching field goals, of course.

How the hell could four ballots have Ok St #1?   BOTH Alabama AND LSU would soundly beat OK. ST...........Dumb, dumb, dumb.
