If you had been wondering whether or not the AP Poll would recognize Alabama as this year's national champion or make a statement by keeping LSU ranked at No. 1, well, the answer is right up there for you.

Alabama is on top with LSU right behind them with Oklahoma State, Oregon and Arkansas rounding out the top five.

Also, what's really interesting about the poll aside from Alabama being on top is that Alabama got every first place vote but five. Of those five ballots that didn't put Alabama at the top, only one listed LSU. The other four had Oklahoma State.

The one voter who kept LSU at the top spot was Erik Gee, from KNML in Albuquerque, N.M.. Gee told CBSSports.com's Dennis Dodd in December that it would take "like a 63-0 pasting" by Alabama for the 39-year old radio host to change his vote after the BCS National Championship Game. He believes LSU won the right to the top spot with their performance prior to Monday's 21-0 loss to Alabama, and his final AP Poll vote reflected his firm stance on the issue.

Check out the final AP Poll of the 2011 season below:

1. Alabama (55)
2. LSU (1)
3. Oklahoma State (4)
4. Oregon
5. Arkansas
6. USC
7. Stanford
8. Boise State
9. South Carolina
10. Wisconsin
11. Michigan State
12. Michigan
13. Baylor
14. TCU
15. Kansas State
16. Oklahoma
17. West Virginia
18. Houston
19. Georgia
20. Southern Miss
21. Virginia Tech
22. Clemson
23. Florida State
24. Nebraska
25. Cincinnati

No split title, Alabama No. 1 in AP Poll

Just had to say...that was the most boring championship game in any sport I've ever witnessed. Yo...BCS...go away and let us have a playoff. How cool would it be to see OK State at Bama or Boise at LSU? Oregon playing anyone with something on the line? What a disappointing end to the college football season. Oh.....and Horns Up!

Hey TDAISON,

True, Bama may be, as you say, "the best team in the county", but I'm not sure who else plays in that county.  Does Auburn play in the same county?  They stink this year, so that doesnt even matter.  As far as the best team in the COUNTRY goes...well thats debateable between about 4 other teams!!!  "Bama is UNbeatable" as you put it.  Ummm...that would be a FALSE statement (see losing at home WITHOUT even scoring a TD).  So they are beatable, because they have been beaten (less than two months ago no less!!)  Just another one loss team along with LSU, OK State and Boise State.  Each one COULD have an arguement on why they should be number one.  You know how they could really find out...OH YEAH how about playing some playoff games ON THE FIELD and then let the winning actually determine it!!  What a novel idea.  But you Tide fans are right...this is the fairest and most obvious way to determine a "champion".  I just hope the NFL realizes what they are missing so that they can simply VOTE GB and NE into the super bowl right now!!  Thatd be great!!!  And then they can just play 5 meaningless games with the rest of the "playoff field" that wouldnt matter.  No one would actually show up or watch, but at least we would have a fair way where computers and voters can determine the champs.  DOPES!!!

The simple fact that we require a poll AFTER the "Championship Game" shows how stupid the BCS is. If it's a national Championship game, why do you need a poll?
So, I guess this is the first year you have ever watched college football based on that comment.

***slippy***  I would also love to see the Alabama vs. Oklahoma State game (awesome defense vs awesome offense and decent offense versus horendous defense).  If you consider New Orleans a neutral site, I suggest  you go visit the whole state of Louisiana and see how the whole state supports LSU, the only MAJOR college football school in the state.  Unfortunately don't think we will ever see a playoff but a plus one would be very beneficial.  But let's look at it, LSU would have played Stanford and Alabama would have played Oklahoma State and then the winners face off.  Might have had the same result/might not, but better to know than to not.

Actually it's two different polls.  The BCS has no voting after the Championship game.  #1 vs #2 for the Championship.  The voting was the AP poll which is completely different.

Once again...BCS system is stupid.   I would've much rather watched an exciting offense in OK STATE play LSU.....  Alabama/LSU...THE REMATCH....was freaking terrible.    Les Miles had 5 weeks to prepare for this game...and that was his offensive game plan??   Would've been fun to see the OK State offense run a hurry up on LSU.

The PLUSONE format would be great for this year:   OK STATE vs. ALABAMA for the title....now we're talking.

I don't see how ALABAMA can be the NATIONAL CHAMPION when they split with LSU...winning on a neutral site, losing at home.    They should play one more time, @ LSU...then we could crown a champion.

NCAA basketball gets it...... football doesn't have a clue (Except how to make money)

Hey Les Miles:  there are more plays than option, slant, counter, and a draw......my gosh

Congrts ALABAMA FB team, alums, and fans.  After that pasting your team laid on LSU, you deserve outright #1.  I still think we need a plus-1, but under current system, you more than made up for the earlier loss to LSU.

From a humbled OKLAHOMA STATE Fan who didn't believe you deserved the shot.

The simple fact that we require a poll AFTER the "Championship Game" shows how stupid the BCS is. If it's a national Championship game, why do you need a poll? Shouldn't the winner of the championship be #1 for the year? O ya, that's cuz it's not really a national championship, just a matchup between what voters and computers think is number 1 & 2. And then they get to vote again, just in case they change their mind. It's just ridiculous.

If you win a national championship, voting shouldn't matter. The game last night was not a national championship, It was an exhibition campaign by each team to prove who the votes should be cast for. I realize the game ended in favor of the team that made the best statement last night, and they were rewarded by the AP...I just think it's ridiculous that you'd have what you call a "championship" and then still have to vote for #1.

Compare it to any other sport and it's astonishingly dumb. Green Bay wins last years SB...but lets take a vote to see who really is #1.

Only in the SEC leaning football world can a team looses it bowlgame, not score a point and still be voted number 2. LSUshouold be no higher than #4. This is WHY we should have a playoff system. All you people that say a  playoff would have had the same result forthe championship game. Let them earn it. Then there can be no questions.
