According to a Patriot-News report, a week before former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky's arrest following a grand jury investigation into his alleged sexual assault of young boys, he watched Penn State beat Illinois for Joe Paterno's 409th career victory from the president's box at Beaver Stadium. A source told the Patriot-News said that Sandusky was seen in the box during the game and then he was later seen in the Nittany Lion Club.

Former Penn State linebacker Brandon Short also said on Wednesday that he was told by two independent sources that Sandusky had been in the president's box for the game that day as well.

Penn State president Rodney Erickson told national radio host Michael Smerconish that the report was "absolutely false," according to Smerconish, but one Penn State alum reported being in the Nittanly Lion Club with Sandusky for the Purdue game two weeks prior, and said he was under the impression that Sandusky "was always there."

Penn State spokesman Bill Mahon told the paper that a search through the guest list of every game of the last three seasons shows that Sandusky had never been invited to the box. However the report goes on to say that then athletic director Tim Curley -- who resigned following the grand jury indictment -- didn't want to give Sandusky tickets to the game but changed his mind at the insistence of Sandusky's wife, Dottie.

Penn State officials were aware of the investigation into Sandusky long before Penn State's game against Illinois that day.

Report: Jerry Sandusky saw win 409 for Paterno

Hey Joe Pa Gavin! Where were all those quality 5-star athletes in your bowl game bro? The Lions could have lost by 40 that day if Houston simply jumps on a 3rd-quarter fumble. My man: I would think that you would not use the phrase, "recruit our 4-5 star children." That's precisely what Mr. Sandusky did to satisfy his sick, deviant obsessions with the 2nd-mile foundation. He basically lured young, innocent boys into his Penn State playground and preyed on the ones that were too weak to resist. You'll be fortunate to win 11 games total the next 2 seasons but that's NOT the point. Wins and losses should be the farthest thing from any Nittany Lion fan @ this point.

Report: Jerry Sandusky saw win 409 for Paterno

Hey Mr. Macdiesel10. You couldn't be more spot on bro! The "image" of Penn State is what is driving this whole campaign of denial, fear, and reluctance to allow the truth to seep in that is making these Nittany Lion fans that keep claiming "witch hunts"; "media agendas", and "outside influences" as the reason for this horrific story. The reality is that Sandusky was a known pedophile in the area, yet those in charge only saw the need to tell old Jerr to simply keep his deviant actions out of the public view;attempt @ keeping a low profile and don't do anything that might possibly embarrass the almighty football program. Hey: 2 out of 3 ain't bad PSU fans.

Report: Jerry Sandusky saw win 409 for Paterno

I know Penn State people very well. I actually dated a girl from Penn State whose sorority raised more money for THON than any other frat or sorority on campus over her four years there.  I've been there more times than I can count. The school was an awesome time when I visited there don't get me wrong. Great parties and campus. The students were sort of annoying with their infatuation with the school portraying an elitist attitude pretty much thinking that they were better than everybody else, but whatever they love their school. However, when this scandal first broke out all the people I knew that were associated with the school were supporting JoePa on every front yet saying they feel terrible for the victims. That's BS and you cannot support both. JoePa at the end of the day is a fraud. I don't care how much he loved the school and how much money he gave. He did the bare minimum just like everyone else in a position of power because they wanted to protect the Penn State brand and it backfired right in their face. I'm sure there were alums and students who were outraged, but the majority I was around kept posting all Rah Rah We are still Penn State! garbage all over facebook. That sickens me. For once, shut your mouth and realize that this problem is ten million times bigger than your brand and nobody cares that Penn State is still Penn State. At least the people that have no connection to the school.

All Penn State people are delusional. I used to be neutral about PSU, but after this scandal and how PSU people reacted by supporting Paterno through it disgusted me and to make matters worse, they also tried to act ike they cared about these victims by holding a vigil. Just hyopcrsy at its finest. The cult-like belief that they all share is sickening and its easy to see why this was all kept quiet at PSU because they all think the same way. What PSU people don't get is that everytime someone hears the name PSU that isn't associated with the school, Sandusky and this scandal is the first thing they think of. It's going to take a very long time to change that image. Like I said, I used to not care one way or another about PSU, but now I can't stand them because clearly PSU students and alums care about the PSU image more than these victims. Just like Paterno and the rest of those clowns that slid this under the rug.

You clearly don't know Penn State people at all, or you wouldn't feel this way. This is what Penn State people have been doing (not that I would expect you to know this because the media refuses to acknowledge the GREAT people of Penn State).

In response to the scandal:

Every year since 1973:

But no...please continue to focus on the actions of the minority and ignore what Penn State has always and will always be about.

Czigan- Try reading the whole article. After it says sources twice it tells you that AD Tim Curley admited giving Sandusky the tickets because of the persistant urging of Sandusky's wife.

lovinMSU, maybe you should remove your head from your ass and take a good look. Paterno was an adult authority figure who looked the other way and allowed this douchebag to continue to molest kids.
