Well said..You wonder why very little of the fan based embraced him. The GIMMICK spread rarely works in B1G.

As a Badgers Alum, we went to back to back Rose Bowls despite loosing them but this crying has no merit. So we lost one recruit with SEC recruiting tactics. So what. We never recruit in the top twenty and the system of developing recruits that Alverez started is how the Badgers have made Rose Bowls with wins and losses in them.

Why did Kyle Dobson take a visit to Michigan State?  He was already "commited" to Wisconsin, I thought Dantonio had this personal honor?  Was he just checking out the weather or was Dantonio trying to get him to flip his commit?  That's what I thought!

Dobson visited MSU in January long after Darth Meyer called him (as early as December 5).

The coaching changes and Meyer's call already had Dobson considering a different school long before MSU coaches talked to him. For all you know, Dobson called MSU.

"So the Big 10 (twelve?) has a gentleman's agreement not to poach each other's commits?  You mean except when there is a coaching change like Penn State?  Or how about all the kids that commit to MAC schools, then get discovered by the Big 10 schools, and change there committment when the better offer finally comes?  Is it okay to take them from other conferences, both big and small, but not okay when its a school in your own conference?  And the difference is?  What?  That's right, no difference.  And the MAC school that did all the work to scout and recruit just to see them lose a recruit when the Big 10 school scours their recruitment boards and puts the big push on to steal their best commits?  Where is the integrity in this case?"
 
You obviously missed the point. It is a matter of who calls who. Post a list of MAC recruits that were CALLED FIRST by B1G Ten coaches before they changed their minds.

First, kids often go to other schools on official visits just to get the vacation. It happens. They are taking advantage of the system. Ethical? Probably not, but the onus is on the kids, not the coaches.
 
Second, a school that invites a kid for a visit AFTER the verbal commitment has been made is just as immoral and unethical as when a coach initiates first contact with a VC'd recruit. If the invitation was in place prior to the recruit making a VC, then the onus falls back on the recruit.
 
So, provide a list of B1G Ten schools that offered visits to recruits that were already committed along with those recruits.

And that is the system...and the rules right now.  Until the rules change (and I don't see a change coming anytime soon as long as the biggest boys in the room are writing them), you can't be naive.  There is no room for naivity in the game of recruiting, for coaches, programs, and most importantly, the players.
 
Naivity? Well, that could be another way of saying no honor among theives.
 
While it is true that the rules are what they are, their are also rules about standards of behavior, ethical conduct, moral behavior, and fair play. Most States have laws making verbal contracts (a verbal commitment is a contract) binding. Unfortunately, most litigations of verbal contracts fail to uphold them.
 
Until Darth Meyer arrived, the B1G Ten coaches did not poach on each other and I doubt there was much poaching of recruits from other conferences (I have no data to prove or disprove).
 
Now we are entering a new era, one of open ranch warfare. Wonderful.

Ohio kids are just more likely to stay home.  Bielema, Ferentz and the Minnesota and Illinois coach of the week are dreading the day when the St. Louis kids realize their state school is in the big boy conference and Pennsylvania kids  will have a choice of road trips to Florida or the simple pleasure of showering without old men in the shadows.
