A rocky Clemson football career has come to an end for Tiger wide receiver Joe Craig.

The Charleston Post and Courier reported Thursday that Craig was served with an arrest warrant Wednesday on charges of criminal domestic violence. Police were called to a university apartment early Sunday morning at which Whitney Fountain, a Clemson track athlete and the mother of Craig's son, told officers Craig had struck her.

Per the incident report, Craig told officers Fountain had started the confrontation and he had "shoved" her away to get her off of him.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney dismissed Craig from the team Wednesday night. A rising sophomore, Craig caught three passes for 17 yards in his 2011 redshirt season.

A dual-sport athlete from Gaffney, S.C. who won state championships in both the 100- and 200-meter dash, Craig was recognized as one of the fastest players in the entire class of 2010 but struggled with off-field issues throughout his time in the Clemson football program. Craig was involved in a May incident with another Tiger track athlete, Marlena Wesh, that did not result in an arrest or filed charges but did force his suspension from the track squad and a three-game suspension to begin the 2011 football season.

Clemson WR Joe Craig dismissed after arrest

Out of curiosity, xzwhateverthehellyournameisxz, why are you such a hater? I see you post on here all the time on Clemson threads, always with vile hate and (usually) with very little basis in fact. I notice your profile doesn't have favorite teams listed. Are you a permanently ashamed Gamecock fan or just a hatemonger in general? The Gamecock theory doesn't hold much water.....the Gamecocks have a lot to crow about right now. Some of them have been wearing their colors ALL YEAR for a change.

Yep, Dug....sounds like a bunch of haters who would love nothing more than to see Clemson as the next Thug U. Not gonna happen fellas. I personally would have kicked him off after the first time and not just suspended him. However, if you think that any coach (with the exception of maybe Saban) has enough stroke to do that you are a friggin' idiot. There are a lot of people around and above Dabo who have serious influence as well.....like the track coach in this case (and Clemson is a track powerhouse). He did the best he could on the first incident and it was a HELL of a lot more than many other coaches have done in the same kind of situations. Stephen Garcia is a great example, but Spurrier is too easy a target. In case you missed it here's a news flash: VIRTUALLY ALL KIDS GET A SECOND CHANCE!!!! This doesn't make Dabo a thug supporter as much as all of you blind ass haters would love to see that.

Tiger haters on here making themselves out to be common haters. Dabo did what ws appropriate last year , he was suspended and now , after a second incident is gone. steven Garcia was allowed to continue after 5 incidents at the Ol Ball sacks request , and the Whitney Chicken Coop was known to him for months and yet he allowed them to break writen rules. Probably shouldnt douche around about someone elses inner circle , especially when the dark cloud of cheaterdom is hanging over the Roost there in the Bluff Rd. projects.

Will Clemson be THUG U under dabo

This writer didnt bother to mention that the first female was cut and beat with a towel rod. How much did it cost IPTAY to keep him out of jail the first time. It took TWICE for dabo to figure out that this cat is a THUG and likes to beat up on females. He should have been arrested and kicked off the team the first time. But when you travel to Miami to have oranges forced down your throat to the tune of having a 70 hung on you by a weaker team you will sell your soul to win. good luck with the turning your head dabo. Had dabo done something the first time this clown beat a female it might have saved the second from getting beat.

Are you serious?  Despite the fact he was not charged with anything Clemson kicked him off the track team and he was suspended for 3 football games. That is far more harsh then what most college coaches do.

Makes you wonder if this latest incident could have been avoided if Daybo wasn't so lenient the first time around.

Guess Daybo figured he could use him on the field at the time.............
