From calling mid-majors the "Little Sisters of the Poor" to asking Jim Tressel not to fire himOhio State president Gordon Gee has not exactly been one to keep his mouth out of the headlines over the past 12 months. And he may not be for the next 12 months, either, judging by this interview with OSU student newspaper The Lanternin which he tells Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema to "get a life."

Bielema infamously accused new Buckeye head coach Urban Meyer of using "illegal" recruiting "tactics" and asked Badger athletic director Barry Alvarez to voice his complaints to Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany on his behalf. Gee emphatically stood up for Meyer in the Lantern interview, calling him the "finest in the country" and "the greatest affirmation of the quality of this institution."

When asked directly about Bielema's comments, Gee was every bit as emphatic.

"We hired the best coach and we went out and got the best kids so get a life," Gee said.

Ah, Signing Day: that magical time of the college football calendar that can lead the president of the third-largest university in the country to publicly call out a coach within his own conference using an insult from a 36-year-old Saturday Night Live sketch.

Gee also referred to the NCAA investigation into Tressel and the Buckeye football program that resulted in its 2012 bowl ban as a "yearlong colonoscopy."

We now fervently await Gee's next pledge to cease discussing matters related to football.

Ohio St.'s Gee to Bielema: 'Get a life'

The longer Gordon Gee and Gene Smith run their mouth while they run the football program at Ohio State, the easier it is to understand how short their future will be at Ohio State.

Still can't believe what happened when this "yearlong colonoscopy" first started, the very first interview, the one with the yet-to-be disgraced Jim Tressel and Gene Smith sitting side-by-side. Smith joked he was going to put a tattoo parlor on the Ohio State campus to make it easier for the Buckeye players to trade their Ohio State winnings for tattoos. Brilliant!

B
ielema  Urban Meyer of using "illegal" recruiting "tactics" and asked Badger athletic director Barry Alvarez  Jim Delany on his behalf

Bielema - has also flipped a few players also using "illegal" recruiting tactics - See RB Melvin Gordon - former Iowa verbal commtt - current Wisconsin Roster member...

bigk72 - Any coach in the Big 10 who couldn't get an Iowa recruit to decommitt from Iowa and Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz wouldn't be worth the salt that would flavor his future.

Ferentz, the coach (the last time coach will be used in the post) who rolled over with all four limbs outstretched looking for a belly rub with 53 seconds left on the clock, 30 yards to go for a game winning field goal, with the Big 10 title on the line, in the horseshoe, against Ohio State, only to lose the title in overtime. He rolled belly up so the Big 10 could send two teams to the BCS that year. Yeah, any father would love to see their blue-chip recruit go to Iowa so he could have Ferentz tell him to sit on the ball with the Big 10 title on the line. Ferentz isn't worthy of any opportunity to represent the Big 10 in any future bowl game and every blue-chip recruit in the country should know that!

Ohio St.'s Gee to Bielema: 'Get a life'

Well Urban has certainly shook things up in his brief time in the Big Ten, hasn't he???

OSU fans, relax already.  Yeah we know, you think Bielema is dbag...just like like many of you probably thought Meyer was until about a month ago.

OK, look at this from another perspective.  Hypothetically speaking, what if Meyer started complaining about the fact that Bielema had contacted a recruit that had verbally committed to OSU...and then he changed his mind and went to Wisconsin.  Considering this has not been the way Big 10 coaches have conducted themselves in the past, would you have suppoerted Meyer's complaints?  Just asking...

Personally, I don't think what Meyer did was that big of a deal...its not illegal.  Meyer has basically increased the intensity when it comes to making sure your recruits sign on the dotted line and officially commit.  And I'm sure other coaches will now be targeting his verbal commitments as well...everyone is fair game from now on.

Dear Rest of B1G (or Little Sisters of the Poor as we privately refer to you when we think no one is listening),

Please form a single file line in preparation for your annual colonoscopy from Coach Meyer.  You can set your fears aside as we can assure you that Coach Meyer is  "finest in the country" and "the greatest affirmation of the quality of this institution."

If everyone cooperates Coach Meyer has agreed that you may all keep your jobs.

Good Day,

E. Gordon Gee

Gee Ohio St.' 'Get a life' or shut the hell up"

How true you would think they would be on their best behavier.  Since all their troubles have landed them on probation..  I heard Gee was turned down by his first 2 choices to replace Messell, (Richie Rod & Gary Sandusky).  I doubt Osu 3rd choice will do as well as Hoke did for UM.  And judgeing by the way he's started his osu career, I think they will be many or more violations under durban.  Leading them further down the football chain, until one day they fall to pressure of the Big 10 and join the Mac.  Where they will once again be a contender, fer the Mac title...Foot in mouth

In fairness, Gordon Gee is only up to 1987 on the insult-meter.

Ohio St.'s Gee to Bielema: 'Get a life'

Rumor has it that Bielema responded with a swift "Talk to the hand." Then Gee came back with a "Uh nuh he didn't!"

Keep in mind it is just a rumor.
