Jefferson pleads not guilty to battery charge

In what's been a busy couple of days for Jordan Jefferson, the former LSU quarterback has pled not guilty to the misdemeanor simple battery charge stemming from last August's infamous fight outside a Baton Rouge bar.

If convicted, Jefferson faces a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. His case is set to be heard May 10 in the East Baton Rouge Parish court.

Jefferson had originally been charged with felony battery, but the lack of DNA evidence and other factors led to the grand jury reducing the charge to a misdemeanor, resulting in the lifting of Jefferson's suspension midway through the 2011 season.

Jefferson and his attorneys have maintained his innocence throughout the process, with attorney Lewis Unglesby saying in September that Jefferson "will never be convicted" in a trial setting.

Though the impending court date and reports from the bar fight won't do Jefferson any favors in the eyes of NFL scouts, one draft expert told CBSSports.com LSU RapidReporter Glenn Guilbeau it doesn't make any real difference--Jefferson won't be drafted regardless.

"I was surprised he was invited (to the NFL Draft combine)," said expert Mike Detillier. "I don't think Jordan can throw accurately enough to play in the NFL. He has a strong arm. He's a good athlete. But in the NFL you have to throw accurately from the pocket. He struggled with that his whole career."

Jefferson will try and disprove those doubts at the combine, set for Feb. 22.

Jefferson pleads not guilty to battery charge

I hope he falls on his face in the Combine.  He was involved in beating a guy.....and he was allowed to play most of the season. Karma came back!!!

He isn't good enough to be in the Combine anyway...I hope he has to serve some time.

LSU will now move on to their next QB, The Sex Offendor....LOL

Jefferson pleads not guilty to battery charge

If Jefferson could keep his cool in a game thats not going his way, he could most likley find a way to come back and win. His bad attitude and blaming everyone around him was evident during the NC game. He even blamed a team mate after he ran toward an Alabama defender and threw the ball to him resulting in an interception! He also horse collar tackled him immediatly causing a dislocated hip! Ending the career of the Bama player, I know Jordan did not hurt him on purpose but Jarret Lee was a MUCH better QB and Les Miles isnt very smart for not using every weapon in his arsenal!!! Bottom line , Miles was out coached by Saban( especially since the Nov. 9th loss) Saban was not losing that game no matter who the QB was. ONE first down? Only crossed mid-field ONCE ? Honey badger burnt again and again?Haha ALABAMA did nothing more than they had rehersed and the DEFENSE was hitting on all cylinders. LSU = Goose egg ! (Many people did not like that match up for the NC anyway) But after following each LSU game of the season noone could dispute thier validity and had to agree, the Tigers were the number 1 team in the country. I love The Tide and Saban and the SEC and I even love the BCS ! LOL.......Oh and just one more thing, everybody complaining about the BCS are blind to the fact that their team couldnt get the job done...Its all just loser talk so go ahead losers keep riding the loser train! Whoot woot....
