West Virginia has some new billboards

While West Virginia is making its way to a new era in the Big 12, it's not quite ready to forget about its past. Well, at least not its recent past.

If you've been cruising along any interstates near Morgantown in recent days, you may have noticed these nice reminders about West Virginia's recent success against Clemson in the Orange Bowl.

While this may seem somewhat insulting to Clemson fans, let's remember that the billboards are in West Virginia, not South Carolina. So it's not as if the Mountaineers are rubbing it in anyone's face.

Though a part of me does wonder if spending money on billboards is the best thing for a school that currently owes the Big East $20 million to do right now.

West Virginia has some new billboards

Here's hoping these "carpetbaggers" miss the NCAA Tourney. Another classless University that will struggle in their new Conference.

It is funny but it also points to the lack of class on WV part ! It sounds like something Auburn would do,(if Bama ever fell apart and lost to them like that.) The billboard projects the metality that WV only goal each year is to beat Clemson, really?

The billboard is located on I-79 South as you enter WV from PA.  WVU has often had a billboard there.  If I'm not mistaken this replaces the "Welcome to Touchdown City" nonsense RR had put out there.

While WVU may owe the Big East some money, its still nice - after so many media people said Clemson would stomp WVU to put up a sign like this to help their memories of how they predicted that game.

It brings back memories of when the media said Rich R. and WVU could not compete against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl held in Atlanta. GA.  Wasn't the score WVU 28 - Georgia 0 after 1 quarter?

And memories of the media saying WVU could not compete with Oklahoma in the 2008 Fiesta Bowl.  Final score:  WVU 48 - Oklahoma 28.

Enough said?
