Report: Oregon WR Huff arrested on DUI charges

Unfortunately for Chip Kelly and Oregon, traffic-related arrests are nothing new for Ducks. And thanks to wide receiver Josh Huff, they're going to remain nothing new for a little while longer.

The Eugene Register-Guard reported that Huff was arrested by Eugene police in the early hours of Saturday morning and charged with driving under the influence, as well as driving without a license and speeding. A police spokeswoman said Huff was pulled over at 1:22 a.m. after being spotted speeding in Eugene. Huff was taken to Lane County Jail and released to an acquaintance after completing sobriety tests.

An Oregon spokesperson said the Ducks were aware of the incident but would have no further comment or disciplinary action at this time.

Huff, a rising junior, is the Ducks' leading returning receiver at the wideout position, having caught 31 passes a year ago for 431 yards. Huff has also returned kickoffs and had more than 200 yards rushing as a freshman in 2010. Though Kelly is -- as always -- somewhat spoiled for choice when it comes to offensive playmakers, the departures of LaMichael James, Darron Thomas and Lavasier Tuinei means that Huff should nonetheless play a much more prominent role in the offense in 2012 than he did a year ago; any absence via suspension would likely have a noticeable impact, despite the presence of De'Anthony Thomas.

Complicating matters is that Huff's arrest will do nothing for his program's continuing image as one rife with discipline issues and petty lawlessness. Even if the charges stick, Huff's punishment isn't likely to be too stiff--but Oregon's history might make it stiffer than it would be elsewhere, and that punishment in turn could have serious on-field ramifications. It's safe to say Kelly has had better weekends.

Of course, Kelly also has bigger things to worry about right this second. For columnist Gregg Doyel's take on the Ducks' impending NCAA violations case, click here.

Report: Oregon WR Huff arrested on DUI charges

Oh you don't like your program getting attacked, but its funny when Oregon does. This is the 5th article posted here about the ducks this week. It an attempt by CBS to smear the program. They have all been negative.  You see on saw all these attacks before. I was on Bob Condotta blog on signing day one year past. There is little doubt of the glee from the dawgs about oregon. Only it had not made the press anywhere. The information turn out to be very accurate, and appeared later in an article from Yahoo sports released months later. That same article was cited on CBS by Mr. Doyel in his rant last week-end. The link to Seattle in there, the new president of the NCAA, is the former president of U of Washington. There is a link to the university.

What the hell are you talking about rath of kahn? What does that slimball Venoy Overton have to do with Huff getting a DUI? Your little conspiracy that all of Oregon's problems are because UW is making it happen is ridiculous. You should worry about your own damn program and the problems Kelly has in controlling his players, then always blaming UW. You are a petulant, pee-brained little child who can't own up to anything your team does. LOSER!

Overton was actually kept out of the PAC tourney.

And for the record, the pimp thing didn't pop-up until after the school year.

One has to think this is a Seattle based attack. Remember Venoy Overton, last year he got a young girl drunk and had sex with her. I think she was 16 at the time. Others were there as well and watched it. The DA a true fan, did not press charges because of the upcoming tourney. The team took the harsh step of suspending Venoy for the remaining two games of the reg season. He was back at by the time of the pac 12 tourney. He had a ball during the NCAA tourney and played pretty well.

Things were moving along nicely until one of Venoy girls snitch on him. She was working for Venoy as a call girl. Venoy was a pimp, and had been for sometime. CBS was to lazy to cover the story. The University saw nothing wrong and Romar the coach kept his mouth closed, he had good reason to.

Now back to the Ducks.

Crosby:

I have to hand it to you, you are a true Duck fan. I'm not an investigator but I read, and I've read most every document about this case. I do believe they screwed up and I believe they know they screwed up. Summery judgement is probably the best way to go, but the football program is looking at some recruiting restrections, some loss of schollies, but I don't think the NCAA will hit them with any bowl restrictions. Chip will get a letter of reprimand for that phone call (the NCAA hates coverup attempts).

FYI - It was a Duck fan that brought Willie into this thread.....

umm, Chip called Willie nearly a year AFTER he had been paid for the scouting package. So you can answer your own question, why did Chip make that call?
You should answer my earlier question - so what and who cares? Are you an investigator? No? Ok, so what the hell do you know?
As far as the "findings" meaning "squat", I doubt the Oregon AD shares your opinion.....
Right now they don't mean anything because the investigation isn't over and the case hasn't been resolved. So any rational thinking person knows that "preliminary findings" don't mean squat.
I have stated nothing but facts to correct an earlier post.
No, you have come to a conclusion that Oregon is guilty of violations and you are making statements to support that conclusion.

FYI - this story has nothing to do with Willie Lyles, etc.

Ok, again, so what and who cares?

Yes, Oregon hired the company that Willie Lyles works for to get scouting information. Why wouldn't Chip call him for this information? And if you are being investigated, why wouldn't you call to get all of the information you paid for to get all of your ducks in a row? You are just some idiot behind a computer who thinks he knows what he's talking about.

And, ummm, a "preliminary finding" doesn't mean squat, as much as you would like it to mean something. Just admit that you are an Oregon hater and are jealous of their national standing, knowing that Boise State will never get there.

Maybe you should think more, you won't look so silly. Or better yet, just give up and find something else to occupy your time.

"Prove that this phone call took place. You can't."

Kelly himself said he made the call. The package that was sent to Oregon was made public and Willie has also stated that Chip called him directly and ask for the "scouting" package

"And BTW, the NCAA has NOT charged Oregon of anything, the investigation is ongoing (anyone who is investigated for anything will hire an attorney or use the attorney they have on staff)."

Actually Oregon has recieved a preliminary finding that lists several charges

You need to read more, you won't look so silly.

Ha!  Is that a North Carolina fan?  Your university/fans are in no position to be spouting your shit talk.

He'll get 3-5 games suspension but really will not be missed with that first half schedule.
