Badgers interest in O'Brien likely to increase

In 2011 accepting a transfer quarterback from the ACC worked out well for Wisconsin when Russell Wilson helped lead the team to its second consecutive Rose Bowl and a victory in the first Big Ten Championship Game. Now it looks like the Badgers may be looking to take that route once again in 2012.

Former Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien has said already that he'd consider Wisconsin when he transfers.

What is likely to increase Wisconsin's interest in O'Brien, aside from his ability, is that quarterback Jon Budmayr suffered a setback in his recovery from an elbow issue that has been bothering him last summer. An issue that puts Budmayr's future as a quarterback in serious doubt, and leaves the Badgers without a lot of depth at the quarterback position right now.

From the Wisconsin State Journal:
The situation is desperate enough that the Badgers are expected to make a strong push to land O’Brien, who announced he is transferring after the spring semester and has expressed interest in UW.

A UW source indicated the Badgers would like to get O’Brien, but Bielema declined comment when asked about the chance of bringing in an outside quarterback.
O'Brien graduates from Maryland this spring, so just like Russell Wilson, he won't have to sit out a year before being able to suit up with the Badgers. Which is important for Wisconsin as adding O'Brien would make them the clear favorite in the Big Ten's Leaders Division as Ohio State isn't eligible for postseason play in 2012.

enjoy making fun of osu for being on probation while it lasts.   not like the badgers will do any better.   ohio state on a ban = wisconsin giving it every they've got = zero rose bowls wins.

3 of our 5 QBs on campus have serious injuries: 4* Curt Phillips: 3 ACL tears; 3* Budmayr: limp noodle/elbow nerve damage and now Houston, Surgery to remove a cyst on his shoulder and can't participate fully next Fall.  Unlucky injuries leave us with 2 healthy young QBs, hence looking for depth and insurance in the transfer variety.  Believe me, we want to recruit and develop our own QBs, but the injury bug has been a killer for our depth.

Why don't you go sit in the corner and take a time out just like your Buckeyes will be doing this year.  It's not hard to keep an NCAA program out of trouble, look at how the SEC does it.  Your idiots in charge in Columbus got busted, lied about it, played guys anyway after being busted, and felt like firing poor ol Tressel would make it all better again.  Even with those dudes playing, you couldn't beat Bucky in Madison.  Wasn't even close.  I know you think O$U is the cream of the B1G crop, but they haven't been for a few years and won't be again for a few years.  In that time, you may just be passed up by the Badgers and Wolverines and Spartans for good...And, if I recall correctly, your two big wins, the natty champ game against Miami, you guys got bailed out big time by some bs PI call in the end zone and didn't deserve the W, and the arky game never happened because of said stupidity earlier.  So, please, stop acting like the buckeyes are bowl season killers when they gave the B1G a black eye in big games for almost a decade.

I see Badger Nation not having much faith in there star recruit, QB Bart Houston.  Why is this kid from Maryland transferring anyway?  Probably cuz he hated their uni's from last season, WOW.

I guess someone who is a fan of Columbia ( freesafety), a team that plays in a crap conference and loses all the time, knows something about losing.

Badgers interest in O'Brien likely to increase

Last 2 BCS bowl games:

2011 Sugar Bowl OSU 31 Arkansas 26
2010 Rose Bowl OSU 26 Oregon 17

Sorry. But the 2011 Sugar Bowl was never played.
You have to go all the way back to 2010 to see the last time an Ohio State University team played in a bowl game.
And an OSU won't be playing in a bowl game this coming year either.
Cheaters ...
