AFC playoff predictions 2010

I was thinking about not doing this cuz of course the critics. Decided to do it anyways. Here is my AFC playoff predictions in which I will give a breakdown of each game in which why or why not they will win or lose that ball game.

AFC wildcard:
#5 Ravens vs #4 Chiefs-Chiefs ended their season with a loss to the Raiders. Their offense seemed like it couldn't get going vs the Ravens. Of course it can change on any given day. Not the momentum you want coming in vs the Ravens. I think Chiefs got a much tougher matchup than they wanted. Could have faced the New York Jets. Anyways I figure the Chiefs will be able to get the running game going, but mistakes by Matt Cassel will cost them in the end. Ed Reed will snag an INT in this ball game for sure. It will come down to their passing game in the end which again I don't think will win them the game. Figure the experience in the playoffs will be a factor in this ball game. Ravens are the favorite, but anything could happen. They will establish a running game and will make this a ball game. It will be closer than one would think. I say Ravens win 7-10 points.

#6 Jets vs #3 Colts-A team the Jets didn't want to see. Last year we all know what happened. I'm not gonna base my prediction on last year o. Jets have struggled thru their last half of the season. Going 9-2 and losing some games along the way to finally make the playoffs. I don't know if I would say the Jets are far more improved than they were last year. Record wise it shows, but their passing game still stinks, rushing game wasn't what it once was, yada yada yada. I don't think the Jets will rush that well vs the Colts even though they have a history of giving up huge yardage on the ground. Their rush defense has improved not giving up huge numbers to the Titans which is impressive. I think Manning will have a great day and have more than 3 passing TDs. Garcon will have an outstanding performance. Colts will win this ball game. Not big, but they will win by more than 10 points. Ends will be in Sanchez face all day, but I figure that their passing game will be the reason they stay competitive in the game.

AFC Divisional round:
#5 Ravens vs #1 Pats-Figure this will be a good game. It will go down to the very second. Unfortunately I figure the Pats will pull it out to go on to the AFC championship. Thanks to Joe Flacco passing game inconsistant. He will cost the team the game. Not really a lot of breakdown. Everyone knows what to expect. Ravens defense will keep it close. Rice will rush for over 100 yards. Flacco will have a chance to lead his team to victory, but loses in the end thanks to inconsistant play.

#3 Colts vs #2 Steelers-Figure Mendenhall will have a great day on the ground. Home field is always good to have. Figure Pittsburgh passing game won't be much of a factor cuz I figure Colts ends will be in Ben's face all day. It will be important for the offensive line to protect Ben, but I doubt they will which will lead to some short routes to convert on 3rd down.  Mendenhall and "RedZone will have a big day. That will be the focus for the Steelers offense. Peyton will throw some INTs in this game and their running game won't be there. Figure it will happen. Big win for Pittsburgh!

AFC Championship:

#2 Steelers vs #1 Patriots-Patriots will be at home and have everyone picking them. Last time around it was a lot different than it will be this time around. Steelers have a new kicker, they may have Aaron Smith, have more than 5 healthy offensive lineman to play the game, Steelers will have far more determination, Steelers are under the radar this time around, no one is picking them which is an advantage for the steelers as well. The list goes on! Fact is this will be a helluva game. Last time Patriots came in with a huge loss to the Ravens which brought out more determination and more of a reason to want to win the ball game. Figure the Steelers didn't take the game seriously enough. Which it is a regular season game of course. Playoffs is where the Steelers play the best. Number 1 defense in the league along with the kicker only missing one field goal since being signed after the Pats game. Impressive if you ask me. Steelers offense looks great. The factor in this game will be to put pressure on Tom Brady. That offensive line holds just as much as Rex Ryan holds his wife's feet. LOL! Maybe this time around the refs will be looking somewhere other than Brady's backside. The way the refs have been calling against the Steelers it finds it more realistic to believe this will be the game that will cost them cuz of the refs. It will happen. I hope Harrison is in Brady's face all game. Can't if a guys yanking on his jersey. If Steelers have Aaron Smith back they may be able to get that pressure on Brady. In any case I believe the Steelers offense will be fine vs the Pats defense. Pittsburgh wins if Brady is pressured which I have confidence that Steelers can get it done this time around. Steelers will go on to the Super Bowl to represent the AFC. 1st to 6.......on a stairway to 7. Surprised??SurprisedDon't be......STAY JEALOUS!!Cool

AFC playoff predictions 2010

Since the N.E. Patriots have finished 1st or tied for first every year in this decade (2001 through 2010)
They havn't even won their division all those years. They played in the wildcard game last year. If they were in first they would have had a bye week.

and one of them being a perfect regular season
True, but the playoffs played out differently.

I hope they win so there is no debate they were the dynasty team of this decade
New England won the most super bowl thru that time along with the best winning %. They were the team of the decade no doubt. To me I don't care for that award. I want the Steelers to win the current super bowl this year. Like I said before I would rather be the reigning champs than the team of a decade. At least the first half of the decade anyway.

"New England and Pittsburg play in AFC game

New England wins

go to Super Bowl"

I agree with robdoggs assessment if the NFL somehow schedules a semi pro team from Pittsburg, KS to ensure their favorite team goes to the superbowl. Unfortunately, the Pats will have to play the Pittsburgh Steelers - IF the Patriots can get past the first round.Tongue out

dodge ram. The Ravens lost to the Bungles once and barely beat them the second time. What's your point. I still think the Ravens have a ligit shot, as long as they don't play against Ben. Roethlisberger owns the Ravens, but you want to cry so go ahead. You want to talk about the Bills, the Ravens easily could have lost to the Bills, heck the game went to OT! How about the 6-10 Texans the Ravens needed OT to win that game as well. One play in either of those two games and the Ravens are thanking their lucky stars they played the Steelers when Ben was under suspension. Now lets hear your rant about why Steelers fans shouldn't feel their team has a good chance to make it past the Patriots.

bowl4fun, Look the decade is from 200-2009. You wouldn't call 1990 part of the 80's decade would you? Yes the Patriots are the team of the decade. Had the Steelers beat the Patriots in 2001 or 2004 AFC Championship games then it would be the Steelers, but they didn't. Your Patriots are the team of the 2000's. To argue that would be insane (4 SB appearances-#1, 3 SB wins #1, only team with 16-0) enough said.

AFC playoff predictions 2010

This is why a fan should never predict games that feature their favorite team--they almost always inject homerism into their analysis.  Wow, so you're a Steeler fan, and the Steelers just happen to win in your scenario?  That's lucky, huh?

"They'll be healthier, they'll have more determination, they're under the radar, the Patriots were lucky, they got all the calls, they were motivated more for a November game than they'd be for an AFC Championship game, the Steelers have a better kicker now..."

It's a fun blog when everything you hope will happen coincides with everything you predict will happen.  Delicious gumdrops fall from the sky like rain.  In truth, the Steelers in fact might beat the Patriots (assuming both advance that far).  I, a Patriots fan, recognize that all teams that make the playoffs are dangerous.  But I put no stock in analysis that cheers right along with the home team as they complete their perfect script.  When non-Steeler fans start predicting a Steelers SB appearance, I'll begin to take that analysis seriously.  Thus far, as I have been reading just about every AFC playoff post on this site, experts or fans, I don't know that I can find 5 posts that predict a Steelers SB other than from those fans that have Steeler players or logos next to their posts.  Yeah, every fan wants their team to do well and assumes they will.  Even the Seahawks fans on the Seattle sports blogging sites will feel that they can get to the SB if they just execute their game plan.

Oh, right, no one is picking the Steelers, so that's an advantage.  I guess no one knows anything about football other than Steelers fans.  It couldn't be that the reason no one think the Steelers can win is that maybe they're just not as good.

You can say that about almost every team (Ravens have had lots of games like that have gone both ways too - both Steeler games, Bengals second game, Texans, Saints, etc.. close games always are decided by a play or two)...if you want to say the Steelers should be 9-7 - I can use the same logic they also lost to the Ravens in Pittsburgh on a last second TD pass w/out their QB and they had a ball dropped in the endzone against the Jets - so they are two plays away from 14-2 - but that logic is wrong too - you are what your record says you are - good teams win close games

I am not jealous and congrads on your team accomplishmets bu this is only one mans opinion and then his hopes. I see Baltimore, Pittsburgh and the Patriots with the best chances to make it to the Super Bowl and win it. Since the N.E. Just my opinion and fan!

No way Pitts goes that far. they are 3 plays away of not even getting to the playoffs
Pittsburgh is one of the best teams in the NFL and you know it. Steelers own Baltimore and you know it.

(dropped td in ot vs bills, bullcrap
Steelers had chances to win that game as well you tard. You act as if Steelers are really terrible. It shouldn't have been that close. Thanks to the idiotic penalties that kept them in the game.

,bullcrap fumble gave to them in miami
Fumble? They didn't score a TD. They scored a field goal. Fins had a chance to win and Steelers stopped them. That is all that matters. Ravens lost to the Bengals!! Eat that!!

and a strip in baltimore)
If it weren't for a 4th string quarterback in week 4 starting for Pittsburgh Ravens wouldn't have even been close in that ball game that they won in the final seconds. Ravens arn't that good. Barely beating the Bills, Browns, ect.

take away those three plays they are 9-7 at best
How about if we took away all the penalties that were called in Pittsburgh in week 4 to keep the chains moving maybe Steelers woulda beat them.

Now you think they will beat New england on the road?
Definately........why not? Did Giants do it 07? Did Ravens do it last year in the wildcard round? The trend goes on.

Last time they played the Pats stomped a mudhole in them in Pittsburg
Did you not read what I wrote?
