Philadelphia 76ers get into Carmelo Anthony trade

Posted on: September 26, 2010 3:41 pm

The Philadelphia Daily News is reporting that the Philadelphia 76ers are in contact with the Denver Nuggets regarding to trade discussions concerning Carmelo Anthony.

The Sixers-Nuggets potential trade offer would send Anthony to the Sixers in exchange for Andre Iguodala (other players would be involved in the deal as well).

PDN stated that an executive said Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri has spoken with Ed Stefanski, the Sixers’ GM.

Yahoo!’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted that everybody on the Nuggets roster is on the market aside from Chauncey Billups and Ty Lawson.

What would be the point in doing that if he were to just leave one season after playing for you guys? You would lose your franchise player in Iguodala....Melo would leave and so would Smith because he is a free agent after this season as well, I believe.

Being a Sixers fan Andre is not worthy of max contract he received from current Sixers GM. I would offer Iggs, Speights, Lou Williams, and first round pick for Melo and JR Smith. If Melo walks next year no problem we can put Young at SF and have a starting lineup of Holiday, JR, Young, Brand, and Hawkes. The bench would be Turner, Meeks, Brackins, and free agent big man from available cap space.

The New Jersey Nets were the ones boasting for D.J. Augustin, not the Nuggets.
Also, nobody said this was a deal that was going through, just a rumor.
The original article stated that more players would be added to the deal in addition to Iguodala.

The only good deal that has been offered, is the one where the Nets would get Melo.  The Nuggets get good young talent in Derrick Favors, a solid veteran with a big expiring contract in Andrei Kirilenko, & 1-2 1st round draft picks.  The Nuggets should just do the 4-team deal with the Nets, Jazz & Bobcats & move on.

This can't be a solid post reason being Iguodala isn't a top tier player and the Nuggets have received better offers from other teams, secondly why would Denver say Billups and Lawson are the only untouchable players when they were boasting for D.J Augustine?

New York offered a better deal of Gallinari, Curry(expiring deal) and anyone of their new pickups aside from Amare and Felton.
