LSU is No. 1. Bama, WVU in BCS also

LSU's 42-10 victory over Georgia for the SEC title puts the Tigers in the BCS title game as the No. 1 team.

Alabama also clinched a BCS berth because there is no realistic scenario that would put the Tide any worse than third.  Obviously, at No. 2, they will play LSU for the championship, but even at No. 3, the Tide would automatically qualify (See Rule 6).

The loss by Georgia also helps both Michigan and TCU, as each looks to move up two spots in the rankings and qualify for BCS games (likely against each other).

West Virginia is also expected tp make the BCS after Cincinnati beat Connecticut 35-26, creating a three-way tie for the Big East championship.  The tie is broken by BCS standings, and West Virginia is projected to be the highest rated team.

You didn't watch the game did you? Just like every analyst out there. The game was close the whole way through. Plus there were heavy hearts in that game. Bama had their chance at LSU give someone else a shot.

Okahoma may be a shadow of the team they once were, but so are Arkansas, Georgia and Old Miss!  Alabama had its shot, now it is Ok States turn with only one bad road loss on a short week.  No one wants to see a redo.

Are you crazy?  Oklahoma is a shadow of the team they were with there best players out.  There would have to be a massive defection of voters.  Will not happen.

First off Alabama will still be ranked 2nd on the computer rankings and would have to suffer a mass defection of human voters all going to OSU which will not happen. Bottomline OSU blew their chance when they lost to an unranked team. Alabama took LSU to the edge which no other team has even come close to doing. Even if OSU did jump Alabama they won't be playing a watered down Oklahoma team, they will be playing the real deal and will get their lunch handed to them by LSU. Looks like another SEC National Title...

Yes, it will be Bama & LSU in the Championship game.

No matter what the score in the championship for the state of Oklahoma, OSU will not overtake the Tide.
Oklahoma is only no. 9, and this will not elevate OSU into the championship game.

Losing to Iowa State was a disgrace;  they were a 27 point favorite and blew a huge lead.

As it stands right now with Alabama not winning their division, or playing tonight has hurt them. With OkSt putting a beatdown on Oklahoma, Alabama will be an after thought for the NCG. If Oklahoma mounts a huge comeback, then Alabama will be back in the mix. But for now, LSU and OkSt playing for the title

Interesting way to look at the contenders for the BCS NC Game.  Scoring offense and scoring defense national standings.  The higher the ranking (the lower the number) the better.  Adding the two rankings provides an indication of a team’s overall balance and strength.  The lower the combined numbers the better.  So how does it look when you consider combined offensive and defensive strength?  Like this:

LSU – 13 O, 2 D = 15

Alabama – 16 O, 1 D = 17

Okla State – 2 O, 64 D = 66

VA Tech – 44 O, 7 D = 51

Stanford – 5 O, 23 D = 28

LSU and Alabama are significantly ahead of the others.  Stanford would be the next team in line then VA Tech.  Okla State at 66 is last and it seems the voters that have them at 5th have it right.
