LSU-Alabama, the sequel

Sources tell me tonight that it's official: LSU and Alabama will meet again in New Orleans in the BCS title game.  It still remains to be seen whether or not TCU automatically qualifies for a BCS berth (I'm not optimistic).

That would put Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl, against Stanford (an automatic qualifier).

The Orange will have Clemson facing West Virginia.

The Sugar will feature Michigan against Virginia Tech.

Other bowl matchups are starting to leak out as well.  Keep checking our bowl page for the latest.

LSU-Alabama, the sequel

I want to know where all these SEC whiners were for most of the last decade when USC and Oklahoma (who lost their conference championship game) and Texas and Florida State and VaTech and Miami were going to the BCS championship game.

The SEC along with the ACC tried for a Plus One format in 2008. Big 12 Presidents were against a Plus One Format...primarily because they thought it would lead to a Playoff. They liked the system the way it was. Don't blame the SEC. Blame the other conferences...especially the Big 12. You know what they say about Karma. I just find it ironic that it is fans a Big 12 team crying foul.

LSU-Alabama, the sequel

Boy, you guys haven't visited Alabama lately. Mullets aren't in style here any more. To the poster who commented about SEC guys "spewing"' what do you call what you were doing in your posts? And I am sick of hearing the comments about OSU playing "in sorrow" against Iowa State after the tragic loss in their Women's basketball program. Very tragic loss no doubt about it. But if you are going to contend for a championship, you have to get on the field and for at least 60 minutes put everything else aside and play the game. Especially against an obviously inferior team. You are giving them an excuse for losing. The voters had their chance to move OSU up. Obviously more voters thought Alabama was still the second best team in the country. Don't watch the game if it disturbs you so much that Bama and LSU are playing again. It will be a good game. And it will be a different game. Just ask the teams in the NFL that meet in the regular season and then again in the playoffs.

We should just rename it the Super Duper Grand Finale SEC Bowl ... no other Conferences need apply. This always will occur as long as you have only one Conference on the BCS Panel that does the selection  ... and that Conference is the SEC. Not a shock. Perhaps the other Conferences can throw in together and have a Bowl of their own. Can't wait for the 3-2 final score.

Get ready for another boring game between the best team in the nation and the third best team in the SEC.

Gain some perspective here, lets look at this logically. Third best team in the SEC does not even equate considering they have a better record than Georgia and Arkansas. So how you come up with a one loss team being the third best in the SEC is beyond me, which puts the rest of your post in question for credibility also.Playing in the championship game only makes georgia the winner of the East, not the second best team in the SEC.

Why is Oklahoma State the Big 12 Champs? They do not even have divisions in the Big 12. Why does beating Oklahoma make you the Conference Champs? Is it because Oklahoma and Oklahoma State were the two highest ranked teams in the Big 12? If so Bama should have played LSU in the SEC Championship instead of Georgia. Until the Big 12 actually has a Championship game where the two best teams from each division play, don't talk about Bama not winning their division.

The BCS works, again. The best 2 teams are playing for the NC. We didn't need to see OSU get smoked. I mean, come on, they lost to Iowa Freakin State.

LSU-Alabama, the sequel

This is a sad day for the BCS and College football in general, but it does point out the need for a "Plus One" System, if anything.  We now get a garbage Orange Bowl between two teams with 3 losses each, a terrible Sugar Bowl, and a Rose Bowl devoid of anything that resembles a defense.  Only the Fiesta Bowl offers a great game, between Stanford and Oklahoma State, both of which could easily defeat Alabama and give LSU a very good game.  Maybe the BCS will learn this time.  I will not watch that game, and I have one of those fully little boxes on my T.V.
