Kyrie Irving will play against Hampton

Well, it is official.  For the first time since December 4, we will get to see Kyrie Irving on the floor in a Duke uniform. Head coach Mike Kryzewski confirmed on Thursday what many had believed for some time.

"Kyrie will play tomorrow. He will come off the bench and play limited minutes," Krzyzewski said. "I don't have a set number of minutes"

What it means is that it is the first step to getting Irving back in the regular rotation. Irving has been practicing with the team for some time, but it was unsure as to whether he would return at all in the season.  Some have guessed that "limited minutes" will be anything from 15-20 minutes on the floor, but Coach Krzyzewski maintains that he will not change his gameplan for Kyrie.

The Duke fans in attendance erupted as the Blue Devils took the floor for open practice on Thursday, with Irving looking calm as he led the second team through the opening workouts. When they began running sets at the beginning of practice, Irving scared the Blue Devil faithful in attendance with a brief stumble on his first hard cut.

Irving struggled a bit early, losing the ball a few times and finding himself in the wrong place on the floor. But once he got his first bucket (to a chorus of cheers from the Duke fans in attendance), Irving fell right back into a standard rhythm.

Having Irving on the floor makes Duke a much better team, the only question is will it be enough to take the Blue Devils over the top. If the toe begins to bother him, Irving will sit. The good news is a Duke team without Irving is still the Number 1 seed in the West.

CaroWhina?  Who says that?!?  Seriously never heard of people complaining about Carolina whining (maybe Larry Drew about his playing time...maybe).  The biggest complainer, whiner, and outright fussy fart in college basketball is the same person in your user name...Coach K.  He complains, b%#$hes, and throws a temper tantrum about every call that doesn't go his way, and that's not many, because he seems to always get his way.  Irving will make Duke better.  As a UNC undergrad alumnus and current graduate student, I hate Duke with a passion but do at least respect their talent.  That said...it's not crazy for people to say that Texas could very well beat Duke.  They have a huge frontline, which gave Carolina a hard time even though they have arguably the best frontline in the country with Henson and Zeller.  Duke will get eaten up on the boards considering their best offering is the Plumlee brothers and Brian Kelly.  Please don't think you can compare Kyle Singler to a big...because he's not.  Talented shooter...yes.  Inside presence...hell no.  Duke wins if they shoot the lights out, but if they don't like when Curry went 0-pher against VTech, don't be surprised if you see an early exit from the tourney.

Never happen Texas fan. You better wake up from that dream you are having.
You would destroy us in football, but basketball come on.
Oh, you are just trying to humor us. Good job. You accomplished that.
Still don't classify yourself as a comedian. Starvation would soon start.

Who is "they"-- you mean Duke?  The team that pounded Carolina by 15 in the ACC Tournament?  Duke doesn't make excuses.  Your comment sounds like a whiney carolina fan trying desperately to convince herself that this doesn't make Duke an odds-on favorite to win it all.  Just keep telling yourself that.

Carolina fan, I must admit the only i like as much as duke win is a carolina loss. You have to Irving credit he could set and still be the number one NBA pick. He went from the 4th or 5th best player out of high school to the NBA number one in 8 games with Duke. Your guy Mr. Barnes is just now starting to play a good game. (he likes the 3 too much 6'8 and shoots the 3 all day usaully 3 of 14) He projected to be 5th in the NBA draft. I think what Irving is doing shows why he is the real deal. You will lucky if you beat Washington. So watch the Irving comments. Good luck to Florida St. We got done wrong with clemson getting three hours sleep before they played west va.
