On Monday, we introduced you to 2013 prospect Aquille Carr, a highly-touted guard from Baltimore.

Carr is a great story: he’s 5-foot-6 yet is one of the most explosive scorers in the country and is a consensus top-50 prospect.

The story took a turn towards mythical status later Monday, when it was revealed the diminutive prospect received a $750,000 pro offer from Lottomatica Virtus Roma in the Italian league.

Carr, who plays at Patterson (Md.) and runs with the Baltimore Panthers on the AAU circuit, went to Milan in late April and helped lead the United States team to the gold medal at the Junior International Tournament.

While there, Carr averaged nearly 41 points per game and became something of a cult hero. According to Cameron Smith of Prep Rally, Italian fans carried him off the court after one game.

“I would be interested in [playing abroad] one day,” Carr told Joe Davis of Scouts Focus. “It was fun over there. I just want to keep [the Roma offer] in mind. I don’t want to make my decision so fast. But perhaps we might do that.”

Roma is the same club team that signed Brandon Jennings out of high school.

What a great life adventure!  Go, Aquille, play basketball in Italia.  And when you come back go to a nice college and have the normal experience that NCAA players wish they were having.  Play basketball for your frat.

Kids only 15, he will grow still. He will be wasted away on the bench and ruin his maturation as a player. Stay and finish high school, then think about an offer like that

If this kid is smart take the money, play as long as you can there and see where it goes.  If you dont make it to the pros take the money and goto college.  Just be smart with your money kid and do not be a statistic.

Wow...what an offer. Go and don't look back. Have fun in Rome, grow as a basketball player and make a lot of money. Why worry about HS or college at 750k a year? You are 5'6", the NBA is probably not happening...even if it is, still go now and worry about the NBA in a few years

More Euro teams should do this....this is a great/relatively cheap strategy. Sign talented players before they graduate HS, offer them a bunch of money, house , car ,whatever...why go to college?

Yeah, with offers like that he would be a fool to even consider going to college.  If he's smart enough for college, well he could end up getting a scholarship (not that he'd need it at that point) once his playing days are done.

Take that money young man!  Unless they change the draft eligibility rules you will not find a better deal in the US.
