UCLA assistant coach Korey McCray was brought from the Atlanta Celtics AAU program to UCLA because of his ties to plenty of top prospects in the Georgia area.

His first test was Jordan Adams, a 6-foot-5 wing from Oak Hill Academy (Va.) who runs with the Celtics on the travel circuit.

On Monday evening, Adams announced his commitment live on

“I’m taking my talents to the West coast,” Adams said before putting on a UCLA hat.

Adams chose the Bruins over Memphis, Georgia, Miami (Fl.), Alabama and others.

“I didn’t think I would fit well there,” Adams said of Memphis.

Adams is a power guard whose strength and scoring ability makes him difficult to guard for opposing wings. He doesn’t shy away from contact around the basket and can also knock down perimeter shots.

Adams is UCLA’s first commitment in the class of 2012. The Bruins are also in good shape for Shabazz Muhammad, L.J. Rose, Kyle Anderson and potentially Shaq Goodwin, among others.

Jordan Adams pops for UCLA

@t King of it. Contrary to your unpopular belief, actually John Calipari and other great coaches were right there at this very game in July this summer. No one is comparing any kid to "Shabazz" but these coaches took a closer look at "Adams" and admitted that he has major skills. Period, end of paragraph.

Ben Howland is a great recruiter, and Steven Smith from Oakhill Academy is an awesome coach. Both traveled to watch and recruit "Adams". Both coaches can't be wrong about the kid. You need to check out the stats on the quiet, no- show off "Adams". Last month he scored 39 points to Shabazz 38 in a game that I saw with my own eyes. I got a feeling Ben Howland can develop his talents evenmore at UCLA. Ben Howland admitted that he was interested in this kid 2 years ago before AAU Coach McCray. He's more than ok, and his rank needs to be higher. Um a UK fan too, but sometimes it not a good fit for everyone. "Adams" chose a great program. Congrats to the young man!! Let's be supportive of the kids. Either way he will experience a great education, and at least college is on his mind.

We gladly accept "Adams" out here on the west coast. In July we went to a game between Atlanta Celtics and Dream Vision and the kid "Jordan Adams" scored 39 points and the #2 player prospect for 2012 "Shabazz" scored 38 points in the same game. "Adams " rank should be higher. This kid isn"t a show off, he just simply scores, and is underestimated. Please join us here in the bay area "Adams."

If you had been following Adam's recruiting it has been all over the place.  One minute he loves everything about Memphis, and talks down about UCLA and then he flipflops.  The hiring of a AAU coach doesn't bother is what it is.  Good luck to him at UCLA.

Jordan Adams is a OK get for ULCA.  You would think if they were going all the way across the country to sign a player he would be ranked in the top 50.  Congrats on the pick up any how and congrats on the new assistant from ATL college hoops is better when UCLA is good.  Im a UK fan I hope we can beat you guys in landing Mr Shabazz. Good luck this year.

Very shady recruiting. Hiring an AAU coach to get players. The NCAA needs to take a look at this. Bad for college basketball.

Mr. Fab,
I understand that you're probably upset that your beloved coach, Bruce Pearl, got canned.  But Ben Howland is on a completely different level.  He knows how to run a truly elite, clean program.  We look forward to Banner #12 in the next few years.

Great decision, Jordan!  You're going to the best developer of talent in college basketball, Ben Howland.  Nobody has put better pros in the NBA in the past 6 years.

Anybody questioning whether this falls within NCAA guidelines had better think again.  Ben Howland knows how to play within the rules and he would never stain the program that John Wooden worked so hard to build.  He's the caretaker of Wooden's program, nothing less, nothing more.

Welcome back to the Final Four, UCLA!
